Kylizzle Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Babygirl is my most anticipated film of the ones I haven't seen 2
hausofdave Posted November 20 Posted November 20 a high risk low reward situation in which anything they say about trump can get them attacked online. Like Bradley said something harmless in AoA and got attacked when it was took out of context. This could easily happen here x100 worse.
fridayteenage Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I wonder if Danielle might be edged out again. 69 metascore, directed by denzel's son who has no experience but his dad was the producer... at least with color purple there was buzz during opening week; I guess we'll see if it gets decent audience response this weekend. 1

Nothing makes me more cringe than this part of Oscar campaign where actors act like they just cured cancer. 1

Fading Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Meryl Streep hosted a private screening and Q&A for Emilia Pérez along with Selena Gomez yesterday. I think that speaks volumes. I hope they don't stop the campaign. 2
Universo Posted November 21 Posted November 21 (edited) rooting for Mikey Madison & Ariana Edited November 21 by Universo 2

She's gonna be cashing in a lot of favors from industry friends and OMITB cast members. 2

I honestly think she isn't asking for favors and people are genuinely showing up and showing out for her... Eva Longoria went to the Cannes premiere, but I wish she and America Ferrera would do something, too. Edited November 21 by Fading 2
choerry Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Selena and Ariana side by side with awards season nominations will be so cool and unprecedented in terms of pop girls acting 2

I've been bearish on including Ariana in my Top 5 and if I'm going to put her in there, I'd kinda have to take out Danielle. Edited November 21 by EnigmaticAndroid 1

Mordecai Posted November 22 Posted November 22 What would Zoe Saldana's chances be looking like if she was competing in Best Actress instead? We're not gonna get that second black BA winner if the most high profile black actresses with acclaimed projects like her and Viola submit in supporting instead of lead 2
fridayteenage Posted November 22 Posted November 22 well Viola was in under one-third of the help + ma rainey + the woman king and submitted in lead... Emilia Perez's general reception has been relatively muted and this isn't a biopic which gets an automatic pass for such. The only Netflix acting win to date is Laura Dern so Netflix isn't very good at acting wins as it is.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I don't like calling things locked so early in the season but...
Hector Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Just saw The Piano Lesson and Danielle Deadwyler ATE She had 2 good Oscar clips for her big scenes. Enjoyed the movie overall though wouldn't be surprised if she was the only main nomination for it. John David Washington was good though showy and Samuel L. Jackson was pretty underutilized outside of some scenes and that monologue.
Blue Monday Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Just watched Blitz; it's kind of crazy they're campaigning Saoirse in supporting??? She is a LEAD Overall I thought it was fine; well made but it didn't totally come together for me in the end, though it was a lot darker than I thought it was going to be (complimentary). 1
ctlp27 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Ouf Gladiator 2 really deserves no nom for Denzel or BP. Boring af.
