Disgusting fraud. Gascón is not getting nominated, regardless.

Hector Posted November 16 Posted November 16 A Rooney Mara-Cate Blanchett tea in Carol: I still think Kieran Culkin's category fraud in A Real Pain is far more noticeable but of course the internet isn't focusing on that now... 3 1
fridayteenage Posted November 17 Posted November 17 emilia seems really underwatched so far. I mean, the kind of movie it is isn't for everyone, but I thought the star power would get more decent viewership... 1 1

I will watch it, don't get me wrong. But seeing how devisive it seems to be it's probably the best to not make too many middle of the road viewers watch it, no? 1
akoaytao1234 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Anora is well paced and fun but definitely is overhyped. The first half of the film is overlong and the whole film does not really paint Anora's headspace. I get why would Gerwig loves it though lol.

Space Cowboy Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I just watched Anora, it was just ok, i was like… that's the frontrunner to win best picture? yikes If the academy was cooler they would give it to Dune part 2, that was a FILM. 1 2
Antisocialites Posted November 18 Posted November 18 this is how Tangerine can still win Best Picture and Mya Taylor can still win Best Actress

I'm surprised it didn't even reach or barely hit the top 10 on their charts. However, the campaign behind it stands strong, and I think it's reaching voters, and they will be remembered when the nominations windows come. 1

Honestly I would not be surprised to see some rallying-for-Clint for that movie from voters to oppose the way WB treated it. Director or BP nominations maybe? I do not see actors though. Anora could win BP because of the ranking system which favors average pleasers.
Kylizzle Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Will the Academy go for an all white male Director lineup? It would be the first time this happened since 2011

I'm not fully sure McQueen will happen for Blitz. Edited November 18 by Hector
Konril Posted November 19 Posted November 19 I'm here for Demi Moore. Can't wait to see Anora and see what's all the hype.
fridayteenage Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Category fraud Ariana may have an easier time than Cynthia. In the last 50 years, one Broadway musical got a lead actress nom, best picture winner Chicago following a sweep at the Tonys for top categories

But it is so genre... not sure it can make it.
Donquizote Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Ready for ATRL to collapse if Yeoh got nominated instead of Grande at Oscar

Though it would be a more deserving nom than September 5... kind of a dire category this year nnn Director would be an interesting choice. But I hope Denis can still sneak in too 1
Liafen Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Yeah I was also kind of wtf with all the praise about the writing when it's the Directing which is perhaps a standout, writing is actually one of Substance's weakest parts 1
