Her performance was so fantastic in that movie and instead Nyad got nominated- She got Golden Globe & BAFTA nominations though and it was such a competitively stacked year. Had Annette Bening missed for Nyad, then Margot Robbie would have made it in for Barbie in the end since she made every precursor. 1
lgaga1fan Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Gonna spitball random Actress predictions: BA: Mikey Madison - easily in no question Carla Sofia Gascon - easily in because of Netflix's mega push of Emilia Perez Nicole Kidman - I just feel it, she's a veteran and well respected and the movie looks great Angelina Jolie - It feels like it's happening but I guess if the movie too mixed it might not? Demi Moore - The campaign is going heavy rn, movie is great and passion is riding, she has a good career narrative. Sairse Ronan - Sony is campaigning but the movie looks bland Marianne Jean-Baptiste - the international voters may come through Fernanda Torres - This movie looks rlly good and it'll definitely be in the conversation in International Amy Adams - Searchlight is paying for this to play everywhere but I don't see it happening rn the movie looks too Tubi'd Cynthia Erivo - Wicked is gonna be the biggest movie out of all of these contenders but I'd be more inclinced for Pt 2 for a nom Supporting: Zoe Saldana - Easily in. her campaign is extremely strong and is starting rn Felicity Jones - The Brutalist is gonna be huge so she'll come along Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor - She was great in the movie and really helped level out the somber tone imo, a huge standout Danielle Deadwyler - Her snub for Till should finally be rectified, especially because this is a Netflix film, and she's allegedly the best part of it Isabella Rossellini - She's a well respected actress who hasn't been nominated and has a big standout scene allegedly + Conclave seems strong overall Saoirse Ronan - Blitz looks pretty boring to me but she apparently has a lot of screentime so it could happen + Steve Mcqueen's films always get a supporting actress nom/win Selena Gomez - She could come along w the movie if its very strong Toni Collette - I'm putting her in here bc the odds have her high but idrk about her Leonie Benesch - the profile for September 5 is going up and she's allegedly a standout Ariana Grande - Same case as Erivo where I think a Part 2 nomination is more likely Outside - Joan Chen is on a lot of lists and I'd honestly love that nomination because she was very good in Didi (and deserves more love in general for how good she was in Twin Peaks). Maybe someone from Three Daughters randomly gets a massive push? Margaret Qualley could be in if The Substance is very strong. Gaga could happen with some critics + The Globes but Oscars isn't happening atp. 3

I forgot about Margot in Barbie actually yeah you're completely right 1
Luminary Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Just saw The Substance, amazing film but I fear the Academy will not eat this up (maybe Makeup and Hair, and if they finally grow some taste, Best Actress, Supporting Actress and Screenplay as well) 4
Hector Posted October 26 Posted October 26 The Tom Hanks & Robin Wright movie Here is at 27% on Rotten Tomatoes after screening at the AFI Film Festival. It is done 1

EnigmaticAndroid Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I've been really getting into Joyce and Chris' podcast through Goldderby again. By far the best pundits. Their new mailbag episode had a lot of good stuff. Apparently Blitz played poorly at the London Fest, SPC is very confident in TRND as their main contender, and they both think that Anjie could be the shock snub this year. 1
Luminary Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I feel like voters could rally behind Jolie the narrative is right and the campaign is rolling right now
Luminary Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Best Actress predictions: 1. Angelina Jolie - Maria 2. Mikey Madison - Anora 3. Karla Sofia Gascon - Emilia Perez 4. Marianne Jean-Baptiste - Hard Truths 5. Nicole Kidman - Babygirl (6. Demi Moore - The Substance) Best Supporting Actress: 1. Danielle Deadwyler - The Piane Lesson 2. Felicity Jones - The Brutalist 3. Zoe Saldana - Emilia Perez 4. Isabella Rossellini - Conclave 5. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor - Nickel Boys (6. Toni Collette - Juror #2) 2
Donquizote Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Early December will be stacked with major critics awards like NY and LA 1
harwee Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I thought Conclave is fantastic and has a strong message. I'm glad I came in not knowing anything about the story. Its definitely getting a bunch of noms. 1

Its definitely getting a bunch of noms. I agree. The movie was great, basically like a volcano that percolates and erupts 3 times. Ralph Fiennes was wonderful, consistent and had great emotional beats. If he went all the way to win, it would be both a deserved and career win. Stanley Tucci was wonderful and had 3 great Oscar clips. Isabella Rossellini was in way too little of the movie to be seriously considered a decent Oscar nominee Not even a Beatrice Straight in Network like scene to justify a nomination, much as I love her. Lithgow was good but didn't have enough great scenes like Tucci had. Cinematography, score, and direction were great too. Edited October 27 by Hector 2
Arcadia Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I feel like Demi Moore has a better chance of Best Actress nom than Karla Sofía Gascón.
