McNulty Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Twitter is cesspool full of hate, the abuse Anora, Sean Baker and Mikey are getting is disturbing 1

kimberly Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Mikey Madison is the 9th youngest winner in history. Demi Moore would have become the 6th oldest winner in history. you do not need to pull out super-specific stats to see the discrepancy. the cookie crumbled the way it did and there is no denying Mikey being the younger, hotter thing and Anora being a more "male-viewer friendly" film are two important reasons why. 5
Slate Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Mikey won because she was in a stronger movie than The Substance. Anora winning Screenplay, Editing, Directing and Picture and Mikey not going along with that would be crazy seeing as she is the whole movie. It's pretty simple. 9

I just wish this recent streak of "the lead of the BP winner must win too" had started with Sallord.

Exactly. After Sean's second win, which wasn't that quite obvious, I sensed The Academy went all in on Anora.
fridayteenage Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) Someone should have clued Emilia Jones in that leads of bp winners get auto wins I guess she was just too old, compared to Michelle yeoh and Frances mcdormand Edited March 4 by fridayteenage

Jglj Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I don't hate Anora, but I didn't particularly like it how the academy did, I find it to be a mediocre movie. I find myself having to defend it now though, because some weird know-nothing haters are saying it's terrible because it's a sex worker movie with sex scenes, and that's not Oscar material . I'm afraid I'll have to defend the girls then (I still find Anora underwhelming tho). 1 1
est. in 90s Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I hope the stans that been dragging her on behalf of Demi for the past 24hrs got to h3ll 2

Life Savers Posted March 4 Posted March 4 The OAH are still going at it? Devoting more time to Anora than Anora hive, maybe they're the real Stans 3
Hector Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Some Netflix global numbers for the Screen Actors' Guild Awards last week too: As fans waited to see who would take home Oscar gold, they got ready by celebrating the best performances of the year with the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (No. 7, 2.6 million views), a live broadcast dedicated solely to honoring actors from film and television. https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/top-10-feb-24-2025 2
kimberly Posted March 4 Posted March 4 n e way. basically it sounds like Anora producers wanted to **** over the crew and began production this way, scheming to pay non-union rates to their crew, then they got reported to the union. IATSE stepped in and negotiated an agreement to improve working conditions, adjust wages, and secure healthcare and benefits for the crew, against Sean "ally of the poor" Baker's wishes. 2
