theboyismine Posted March 3 Posted March 3 The random user seething over Ariana's oscar-nominated performance 2
family.guy123 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 1 he 40 minutes of an entire story that has transcended pop culture for like 80 years vs 2 hrs and 40 minutes of outstretched songs and half a story where nothing ******* happened 1 2
Donquizote Posted March 3 Posted March 3 It seems like LA+NY+Globe winning combo becomes oracle again this year for animated feature. Last year it was Boy and the Heron.

Lovett Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Not the multi-post breakdown. Also kii at them straight up lying and then suddenly "I'm not watching that" when clocked with the facts. If their Morgan Wallen support wasn't MAGA behaviour enough... 1 5

I'm saying it's for the people who think they're being "edgy" and "progressive" for applauding a white man's retelling of a sex worker's story while disregarding industry standards like intimacy coordinators and being creepy on set with his wife. this win will sting in the future. 1
OnlyManInTheWorld Posted March 3 Posted March 3 The Substance is a certified classic that will live on for ages. Anora will have been forgotten by next year's Oscars. 1

The substance is already iconic. Yet I've been accused of "loathing the sight of femininity" because I've criticized the thin character development of the two leads of wicked. 1 1

Whew the coping. They hate to see an indie movie win
enchanted0 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 zzzzzzZZZzzzzzz Sean Baker earned the opportunity to share his perspective on feminism and hierachy through his 20 years of filmmaking. It's not like films like Tangerine and Florida Project don't exist. Anora isn't supposed to be about real life of sex workers. It's about why women often react to certain situations in specific ways and Ani is the great character to illustrate the point. 2
pigeon Posted March 3 Posted March 3 No Other Land win got me shook. I wasn't expecting Academy to give platform to the directors and they rightfully called the hypocrite US out. 3 1
ariananext Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I need to watch Anora, it was back in theaters for some days here but I missed it is it coming to streaming soon?

Anora is well liked and well revered everywhere, this will not sting at all. 1

I am not going to go back and forth about the problems I have with Anora's screenwriting, depiction of women and sex workers, and lack of editing. because I've done it a lot a couple weeks ago in this thread. It's not very hard to see, as a woman, how Hollywood treats women and marginalized stories as outsiders that rarely get the celebration they deserve UNLESS a white man is helming the film. Emilia Perez, Anora, and The Substance, Barbie, Promising Young Woman are examples of this. Coralie Fargeat being the 9th woman EVER to be nominated in director in the last 97 years is a win in and of itself, I guess. we have a long way to go. 2

I think Wicked looked like **** and that Ariana's bizarre chenowith impression didn't work and that makes me maga. or is it something else that makes me maga? Is it really just the Morgan Wallen thing did I lie? I posted a video of a bizarre looking person saying they'd die to play elphaba. Alert the elders of the vile village . I'll get the bread 1
BGood2Me Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Yeah, Anora is the most overrated movie of the year. Didn't deserve to win any oscar. Demi and Torres losing to Madison 2 1

I'll get the bread No, the lying and then refusing to look at the evidence that disproves your lies is MAGA behaviour. I think that was pretty clear from my comment, had you bothered to actually read it between your unhinged rants. You can hold whatever (incorrect) opinion you want over multi-Oscar winning film Wicked, but you were already clocked for your lies about Ariana's dream to play the role of Glinda. Maybe take your nonsensical rants to Twitter instead because nobody here agrees. 3
Frozen99 Posted March 3 Posted March 3 sad to see demi not winning, i absolutely loved the substance, what a weird movie. gotta watch anora after that sweep. hopefully demi has another one in her, would have loved for her to get the win!
