Almodusa Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 Pretty curious how much recognition Joaquin will get for a sequel. Could be just as celebrated if he does great following an Oscar winning performance or sorta ignored since they’ve seen that work before and awarded it

fridayteenage Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Well there is some precedent. Paul Newman, Peter o toole, bing Crosby. Bing in a bp winner follow up. Peter as an English king. Paul over 20 years later for an overdue win. Paul and Peter's duos had different directors, writers, and producers though. Bing would be the best comparison.
hausofdave Posted March 13 Posted March 13 six actors have been nom for playing the same character in different movies: Bing Crosby - Father Charles 1944 W / 1945 Paul Newman - Fast Eddie 1961 / 1986 W Peter O'Toole - King Henry II 1964 / 1968 Al Pacino - Michael Corleone 1972 /1974 Cate Blanchett - Queen Elizabeth I 1998 / 2007 Sylvester Stallone - Rocky Balboa 1976 / 2015
Konril Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Emma Stone in an Ari Aster movie. Probably won't get award notice but I can only dream.
Donquizote Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Yes, I think Gaga is coming for that Oscar win this time 3
Feanor Posted March 13 Posted March 13 This year is pretty light in terms of Oscar potential movies, so I think Gaga & Joaquin have a very good shot at getting nominated (again in the case of the latter). 4 1
WildAmerican Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) ouuu interesting relase date... Cannes? Edited March 14 by WildAmerican 2
hausofdave Posted March 14 Posted March 14 date screams this isn’t an Oscar play, not surprising, it’s anthology movie that’s supposed to be closer in tone to Dogtooth/Killing of a Sacred Deer, which basically is Oscar repellant material.
Kylizzle Posted March 14 Posted March 14 My dream is Kinds of Legendariness can secure Hong Chau the BSA win she was robbed of in 2023. But the movie will likely be ignored
fridayteenage Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) actresses in the sag awards era with noms for multiple-oscar-winning films: Emma (la la land 6, birdman 4, poor things 4 =14) Frances (Nomadland 3, Fargo 2, billboards 2 = 7) Michelle (brokeback 3, Manchester 2 = 5) Only 3 in the last 30 years have multiple. I wonder if Michelle's next film will be her ticket. Maybe the long-gestating Peggy Lee movie.
