It kind of seems like the Past Lives of this year where it could sneak into 1 or 2 ATL categories as it loses momentum throughout the year. But given the horrible release strategy and A24's spending spree recently i don't see the film getting a big campaign outside of Colman Domingo whose performance I'm not a great fan of. 1
ctlp27 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Not sure how much Emilia Perez could be welcomed by the Academy. Seems like there is buzz enough for directing and BP maybe but it seems like a long way for actresses (I'd say Zoe might have the biggest shot as a way to recognize her). Same for Demi Moore.

The actress field is very open, it'd be surprising if they don't pull a triple Netflixs main awards priority will be buying up noms for this, to be sure
Scandalous Posted September 18 Posted September 18 yeah Sing Sing seems to be flatlining. i can see it getting into BP still but it's like 8th-10th place at best so excited for mike flanagan love his hill house shows so much
igninton Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Tried to get tickets for The Room Next Door, Emilia Perez and Maria at the BFI but they sold out within minutes
kandicha Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Emilia Pérez will represent France at the Oscars Selena Gomez coming for Oscars and Césars nominations? 3

But this definitely confirms to me that they didn't pick Anatomy Of A Fall earlier this year because Justine Triet spoke out against Macron. This movie is mostly in Spanish too.

EnigmaticAndroid Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Apple finally decided to start marketing this movie ig 1
Donquizote Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Glenn Close is coming The Summer Book is confirmed to premiere next month at BFI.
Kylizzle Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Saldana is going supporting. From what I've heard about this movie it seems like category fraud but we'll see. Hoping for: Zoe Saldana, Toni Collette, Danielle Deadwyler, Joan Chen, Selena Gomez.
homosexual_behaviour Posted September 19 Posted September 19 (edited) poor julianne she was snubbed this year for may december and is probably gonna get overlooked again next year for the room next door Edited September 19 by homosexual_behaviour 1
futurenostalgic Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) This actress race is so interesting to me this year lol. I can easily see Jolie being snubbed entirely. I also don't quite believe the Madison frontrunner predictions... BUT I ALSO NEED DEMI MOORE TO SNEAK IN SO BADLYYYY Edited September 20 by futurenostalgic 1
EnigmaticAndroid Posted September 20 Posted September 20 The way Oscarrace subreddit is still clinging onto Blitz being an automatic frontrunner with McQueen winning and Saoirse sweeping. Maybe if it was 1994. 1

Hector Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Expected but smart move: We'll see if she pulls off the double nominations like ScarJo did 5 years ago for Marriage Story & Jojo Rabbit. 1
