McNulty Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Queer seems to be mixed too, Matt Neglia gave it 6/10 rating
hausofdave Posted September 3 Posted September 3 the way Amy's getting moved from Oscar to Razzie predictions for the THIRD time this decade 4
EnigmaticAndroid Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Imo, Nightbitch doesn't look elevated or ballsy enough to be a critical favorite but it also looks to specific and weird to hit with audiences.

Maybe the trailer is horribly horribly off but why does this look like a Ginger Snaps/What to expect when you're expecting hybrid? I don't get it. And the poster that's been out looks so raw and interesting, just for the movie to turn out as the long lost Baby Mama sequel? No no no. I'm done. edit: This is really sinking in BAD. I am rooting for Amy. I adore her. What is this? If it is a lovey dovey comedy with some edges and twists then why for Hillbilly Elegys sake is it called NIGHTBITCH? Are we sure this is not an SNL skit as part of the awards campaign? Is it Funny or Die? Imagine the movie is actually good and has something to say and the studio cuts and releases this trailer! Am I overreacting sistrens? Edited September 3 by STMG23 1

ctlp27 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 It's the JD Vance curse for Amy. Excited with the pretty great reviews of Queer. Love Luca's cinema, less of Craig.

pigeon Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Y'all ready to jump the gun because of a 2-minute trailer. Maybe just wait for the reactions first. 12 hours ago, Komet said: Omfg I never got the hype for this. People heard 'Amy Adams playing a dog in something titled Nightbitch' and thought Best Actress Oscar? It has the most screenings at TIFF which means they are gunning for the Audience award, it has a prime release date, Amy Adams is getting career tributes, it was supposed to go to Hulu but they decided on a theatrical release. Like latest two BA winners are an adult woman who has the brain of her baby and an older woman who travels through multiverses. It is not like they are most Oscar baity roles on the paper. And who's the competition? Harley Quinn? An unknown trans actress who is in a foreign language film? Angelina Jolie in a divisive biopic? 1
Donquizote Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Early reactions to JFAD are out on twitter and Letterboxd
Kylizzle Posted September 4 Posted September 4 (edited) Mixed reviews for seemingly everything so far. Oh this flop season. Edited September 4 by Kylizzle 1
Dark Miracles Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Interesting that Phoenix is attending the premiere. I assumed he was gonna lay low for a while after singlehandedly derailing that Todd Haynes movie last minute.

I thought it would be easy with OMIB, but she really had to campaign hard to finally get one after 3 seasons, so I don't know how the pool for the other Academy would feel differently about her (considering her role is not huge in this one). Curious to finally read reviews of Queer. I love Luca and his cinema so I hope it's not a misfire. And her nom is a joke. Her attempt at dead pan is cringeworthy. She has no range and is unwatchable. 1 2

That attempt at a sardonic voice she does (but really just sounds like she needs to blow her nose) makes the show unwatchable. I stopped after the first season 1

I stopped after the first season I wish I stopped too but I don't like giving up on shows. I have it as background show I guess. And trust me Selena's acting only got worse. Like compare Audrey Plaza in Parks&Rec to Selena in OMITB. The fact that she got nominated and Audrey never did makes me sick. 2 1
Gottasadae Posted September 4 Posted September 4 The downfall of Gaga I'm not surprised, since it's hard to imagine fans of first Joker which is heavy drama to tolerate over 2 hours of musical

Honestly, I was concerned that American journalists would perceive J2 in a negative light. However, it seems that they are praising both the lead actor and Gaga. I was expecting similar reviews to the first film, so I'm not surprised by the mixed opinions. None of them are overly negative, so I anticipate that the movie will still receive several nominations this season (possibly for acting and set design, which have been praised), and maybe even a best picture nomination to bring in some blockbuster revenue. There is no indication that this film won't be a smash hit.
