Liafen Posted March 11 Posted March 11 LADY GAGAAAAAAA Dune: Part Two coming to sweep methinks. I’m seeing 5-8 wins: VFX, Sound, Production Design and Costumes seem the most obvious. Music too. Make-up and Hair, Editing, Director, Adapted are tougher to crack. BP seems to be a long shot. it will be interesting to see the Furiosa-Dune battle for the technicals
McNulty Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Dune Part 2 will deservedly sweep the BTL awards, Hans Zimmer is coming for his 3rd oscar 1
Dark Miracles Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Paul Schrader's Oh Canada save me... save me Paul Schrader's Oh Canada
Donquizote Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Kirsten Stewart's new movie Love Lies Bleeding just debuted with critical acclaim
Donquizote Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Mess. Mikey 17 just got pushed back to January 2025. I wonder if it is set to debut in any film festival this year.
Donquizote Posted March 11 Posted March 11 If Megalopolis is well received, Adam Driver might win his first Oscar for Best Actor.

Blade Runner Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) Emma and Yorgos coming again. Edited March 12 by Blade Runner
Donquizote Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Anyway, Leo and Regina Hall are coming for that PTA movie.
fridayteenage Posted March 12 Posted March 12 it's notable that lanthimos's new movie is self written. thus far, his two big oscar-y films'were written by Tony mcnamara
Life Savers Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't think Kinds of Kindness will be a big player. It's an anthology and so far it looks too experimental. The Favorite and Poor Things were eccentric but still more accesible than the earlier Yorgos fare. Bar Birdman/Revenant from recent memory they also don't love showering directors with praise in consecutive years.
Rafael Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Will Jennifer Lawrence's Burial Rites being released this year? If so, she might be in the race
Kylizzle Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Hoping Villeneuve can get a director nomination this time, if not a win.
Riot Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Gaga better start saying that she spent 5 months in a mental asylum with no electricity or some sh*t like that. This past award season has been such a bore.
hausofdave Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Angelina Jolie - Maria Saoirse Ronan - Blitz/The Outrun Lady Gaga - Joker: Folie à Deux Marianne Jean-Baptiste - Hard Truths Jessica Lange - Long Day's Journey Into Night

hausofdave Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Anora (NEON) Bird (A24) Blitz (Apple) Conclave (Focus Features) Dune: Part Two (Warner Bros) Joker: Folie à Deux (Warner Bros) Kind of Kindness (Searchlight Pictures) Parthenope (TBD) Queer (TBD) Sing Sing (A24)
Dark Phoenix Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I could see Dune 2 getting up to 10 noms and even at least 5 awards: -Best Director -Best Picture -Best Cinematography -Best Supporting Actor -Best Costume Design -Best Music (Score) -Best Makeup & Hairstyling -Best Production Design -Best VFX -Best Adapted Screenplay The only big contenders are Wicked, Furiosa, Joker:FAD and Gladia2 but they have very high stakes to reach to overcome what Dune 2 did. Also, I don’t know why but the first teaser of challengers was interesting but the new trailer is cheesy and corny, it will be another mess like Bones & All also how will Luca be able to promote and campaign for this and Queer? He needs to make CMBYN2
