The way the ATRL awards thread is somehow less toxic and more fun than the elderly bitter losers on GoldDerby :suburban:

It seems more and more likely that Conclave can pull an upset in BP, and Anora is not as strong as what people think

So the race for Best Original Song:

El Mal - Golden Globes,  Critics Choice

The Journey - Society Of Composers & Lyricists, Hollywood Music In Media Award

Like A Bird - Guild Of Music Supervisors

Never Too Late - Hollywood Music In Media Award

Yeah El Mal will still take the Oscar,  I think.

actually maybe the youth is what sunk wicked along with anora for ensemble.

either way it woulda been the second youngest age skew for the main acting pushes, behind slumdog which dominated the globes, baftas, guilds, and ocars.

with bailey having the 3rd most screentime and the 3rd sag nom. and elphaba/galinda/fiyero are even a decade younger than the actors portraying them.

I finished my rewatch of Anora. @Kylizzle @supaspaz

I will cut Mikey a little more slack, because her performance itself isn't as one-note as I remembered. I was definitely underwhelmed by her in theaters because of the hype surrounding this film and all of the praise it was getting. Still not Top 2 in my Best Actress rankings but I'd be willing to swap her above Cynthia for 3rd.

As for the film... I still think it's longer than it needs to be, and too male-gazey for me to admire more than I already did. I can't help but feel like there was a missed opportunity here to make something more impactful. It's a fun enough rewatch, but it doesn't grab me in the way some of the other nominees do. It'd still be my 6th or 7th pick for Best Picture, if it were up to me.

I knew she still had a chance to win SAG :clap3:

Mikey is still a big threat for the Oscar but at least we have a race.

I was so happy about Demi winning that I didn't even realise Timothie won.

Nice to have 2 races in the lead categories.

Anora and Brokeback Mountain now share similar award trajectory: PGA, DGA, and WGA win but lost SAG ensemble :suburban:

Imagine if history repeats itself and Ms. EMILIA PEREZ won BP over Anora :suburban:

The Brutalist has a strong chance at Director,  Actor,  Cinematography, and Score so that's definitely not the case.

I agree but its the comp everyone's been making all season. The way Dog was robbed tho  :gaycat7:

Scooter's massive media manipulation to position Wicked and Ariana as frontrunners—using Variety as his tool—will go down in history as something never to be forgotten.

Well at least Ariana is now an Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actress.

Which is hard to get.

Not everyone has that even after multiple attempts :suburban:

Always "media manipulation" as if Ariana's performance wasn't acclaimed from the start.

Also, poor Selosers always having to hide behind their fave's more talented costars because she can't even score a nom for anything on her own.
