MAXIMO Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Yeah, Demi ain't winning, Anora has clearly industry support that isn't influenced at all by critics groups or other association, Mikey winning SAG tomorrow will seal that. Anyway, it was actually really surprising that The Substance got all those noms considering how crazy it is, so I'm happy for that. Still rooting for Demi though but I won't be delusional, she is the movies' best bet after Makeup. 2 1

I don’t think you can separate out how the movie was made. It’s an experience of form and function. But it’s excellent, regardless. Linklater is that bitch! 2

Hector Posted February 23 Posted February 23 SAG Awards red carpet from People & Entertainment Weekly beginning at 6pm ET with Netflix starting an hour later with their red carpet and the main show at 8pm:
Hector Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) Conclave now 100% locked for the Adapted Screenplay Oscar: BAFTA, Globe, Critics' Choice, and now USC. Only didn't win WGA because it was ineligible. Edited February 23 by Hector 1
Donquizote Posted February 23 Posted February 23 If Conclave won ensemble tonight, I won't be surprised if it won BP as well.
Donquizote Posted February 23 Posted February 23 After watching Mikey interview, it seems like she has boring personality I can't believe this is the same person who plays Ani in Anora 1 1

Яeo. Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Mikey would be the most overrated win of the last 20 years if she wins. Same goes for Anora in general. 3 3 5

akoaytao1234 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I think Anora is set for Picture, but I am still holding Best Actress until SAG. If Mikey can bypass Demi's speech and fame even with her lackluster Industry speeches, she definitely is winning. If Erivo wins, its still a toss up between the two. 1
genio Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Praying that Ariana can win the SAG. I am aware that her chances aren't the highest, but I still think there is a slight possibility that she can take it home tonight.
Onyxmage Posted February 23 Posted February 23 The way the academy absolutely REFUSES to acknowledge performances in horror. F*** them! 1

Donquizote Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Jeff Sneider is predicting Jones to win Supporting Actress. Anything but Emilia Perez please
kimberly Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I finished my rewatch of Anora. @Kylizzle @supaspaz I will cut Mikey a little more slack, because her performance itself isn't as one-note as I remembered. I was definitely underwhelmed by her in theaters because of the hype surrounding this film and all of the praise it was getting. Still not Top 2 in my Best Actress rankings but I'd be willing to swap her above Cynthia for 3rd. As for the film... I still think it's longer than it needs to be, and too male-gazey for me to admire more than I already did. I can't help but feel like there was a missed opportunity here to make something more impactful. It's a fun enough rewatch, but it doesn't grab me in the way some of the other nominees do. It'd still be my 6th or 7th pick for Best Picture, if it were up to me. 3
Riot Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) All the controversies have turned the voters to the most professional, safest choice represented perfectly by Isabella Rossellini. Especially since she has recently lost her ex husband David Lynch. Stay with me, see the vision. Edited February 23 by Riot 1 2

You have a point. Before the Globes I was actually praying Demi to get her Oscar nomination because of the genre bias of her film (she was like 4th or 5th in the predictions around that time I believe, and Gascon was 2nd, Angelina #3, etc ) I still wait until SAG tonight though to see if Demi still has a chance. She's not over yet 2

Demi's performance is top 2 when it comes to critics awards for Best Actress this season despite of her past Razzie wins. 3
Lil' Oz Posted February 23 Posted February 23 SAG loves a narrative (she also has the best performance, imo), so I wouldn't count out Demi. I actually believe she has a really good shot at winning. But, yeah, Mikey is doing very well at the moment. Rooting for Demi tho.
Antisocialites Posted February 23 Posted February 23 the meltdowns over Independent Spirit Award winners... poor Obsessed Anora Haters, I just love to see it! 2
KylieistBoi Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Frankly, Mikey winning over Demi would be so Substance-coded 3
