daniela monquelat Posted February 17 Posted February 17 uh they can say anything about selena but we cant say anything about the racist and about ariana lol 1
hausofdave Posted February 17 Posted February 17 probably a coincidence but found it funny since 2015, Pundits Choice got BA right in the odd years. In the even year? absolute blasphemy. 2015 : Larson ✅ 2016 : Portman ❌ 2017 : McDormand ✅ 2018 : Close ❌ Gaga ❌ 2019 : Zellweger ✅ 2020 : Mulligan ❌ 2021 : Chastain ✅ 2022 : Blanchett ❌ 2023 : Stone ✅ 2024: Moore 🔜 1

Y'all are doing these Coleman vs Close comparisons, when for me it was always a Yeoh vs Blanchett tea. And let's not forget that Cate won the BAFTA that year. best picture winner starred: yeoh best picture winner starred (probably): madison also bafta never favors euros/aussies more than oscars do. finally, NSFC favored madison, NSFC favored cate. lafca favored madison, lafca favored cate. so the elite critics pick is madison, the british industry pick is an american this time and her name is mikey, and the stronger film is anora. 1

It's also a bold statement to make, considering the follow-up film is coming next year and you have no idea whether she'll earn this massive praise once again. 2 hours ago, corotinho said: Also referred to as 'Academy Award Loser' Nah, that would be those who've never been nominated. Not the ones who give strong enough performances to receive the honour and forever be known as an 'Academy Award nominee'. 3 2
Alyssa Edwards Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I'll say this... This year's best actress race is f***ing WEAK. 2
fridayteenage Posted February 17 Posted February 17 a year where the actress nominees are from 5 best picture nominees including 3 of 5 best director nominees compare to: Eyes of Tammy Faye The Lost Daughter Parallel Mothers Being the Ricardos Spencer 1
Alyssa Edwards Posted February 17 Posted February 17 The way Cailee Spaeny couldn't even get a nomination last year for Priscilla... Oh it was bad for 2025. 1
Donquizote Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I kind of agree that this year nominees for Best Actress are weak. Only Madison, Erivo, and Torres blew my mind. Moore's performance was ok. And Gascon was horrible in EP. I blame Greta Gerwig for making us think that EP is an avant garde high end arthouse movie

Donquizote Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Some stans should stick to Nickeledeon's or Kids' Choice Awards Anyway, some pundits on Goldderby still have Torres to win despite Madison just took BAFTA and Moore just won CCA 2

Blue Monday Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Weirdly think Mikey winning at BAFTA is good news for Fernanda Torres but it's going to be a photo finish I don't think SAG will clear anything up

I like to think this too but when you consider who the Academy is and what they are drawn to you start to realize that Jessica was always going to win that year based on who was nominated
Donquizote Posted February 17 Posted February 17 No one has ever won Lead Actress without SAG and BAFTA nomination. Torres will be the first one if she won Lead Actress. The fact that Regina King won Supporting Actress without BAFTA and SAG nomination really blew my mind. But she was already a respected veteran when she got nominated for Oscar and there was urgency to reward her at that time. She also swept critic awards during that season and SAG winner that year wasn't even nominated for Oscar.
hausofdave Posted February 17 Posted February 17 every Editing winner, for almost the last 40 years has had at least one of two things: – a sound nom – Picture or Directing win the last winner to have neither was Witness from 1985, so Conclave winning would bust a long-standing stat (assuming it doesn't spoil for picture) 2
kimberly Posted February 17 Posted February 17 stats are meant to be broken. yes, it'd be insane for Torres to pull it off or Anora to lose Best Picture at this point, but it's not impossible. a lot of these award stats feel more like spurious correlations to me, rather than the rules and conditions some pundits make them out to be. the guilds are the only precursor that has some bearing, mostly in the nomination process. final round Oscar voting is much larger than any one branch.
fridayteenage Posted February 17 Posted February 17 globes have bearing only in the noms industry awards have bearing in the wins, as an industry award 1
Donquizote Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Won't be shocking if Anora lost BP. We've seen that BP always has surprises although the movie swept PGA/DGA/BAFTA BP like La La Land etc.

Donquizote Posted February 17 Posted February 17 EP is such a mess. I wont be surprised if it won BP since AMPAS love controversy
