hausofdave Posted February 8 Posted February 8 the only people to win Director without an Oscar nom were Spielberg in 2002 (nominated for 2 films), and Baz Lurmann (tie)

Life Savers Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) I think the Jon win was just their two top choices splitting the majority of the vote (Brady and one of Audiard/Baker, I assume). He was never winning the Oscar (and rightly so, no shade). The win makes the race a little interesting. If Brady doesn't win DGA then the Oscar is game. Edited February 8 by Life Savers 1

fridayteenage Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Since the BP expansion, the precedent for a film only winning an acting trophy at BFCA, then taking BP Oscar: Coda, Green Book. Brutalist this year's Coda/Green Book, or nah? Edited February 8 by fridayteenage

YourFavoriteWeapon Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Demi including that "and to Karla who is not here" comment in her speech is the greatest example of 4D chess I've seen played. It felt like a strategic move to make the audience wonder why Karla was not present at the ceremony, therefore bringing the racist controversy back into the conversation which will ultimately cause a lot of voters to potentially not nominate EP on the basis of it being riddled with racist/Islamophobic controversy.
Liafen Posted February 8 Posted February 8 wow, Demi is on fire. if there was any doubt still that she's taking it, she pretty much wrapped it all up now
Space Cowboy Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Anora is MID and doesn't deseve to win anything. Easily bottom 3 in the BP oscar nominees lineup along with EP and A Complete Unknown. It has been payola'd by the regional awards so much to make it look better than it really is. I hope it goes home empty-handed on Oscar night. 2 5

Her mind The way Zoe went from "Karla no one other than you could have played Emilia Perez, no one, eres unica, unica, REINA" in her GG speech to "nothing", "I don't know ha" at the CC awards you gotta love hollywood lol 1:50 1 6

I don't think like that. No one will search for why Karla didn't show up. They will probably think Demi chose to give a hand to her actress sister even while she's being cancelled. Like: ''cmon, you did it wrong. But i'm still here for you to a second chance''. Voters will adore Demi for this. Most people of the industry are so over those cancels...
