Demi mentioning Karla unlike her own co-star/director  :dies:

(obviously she only mentioned her because she named all the nominees for Best Actress)

Anora was good, not great, but it leaving empty-handed gives me pleasure after film bros nonstop praise for it (which I never understood)

I've spent the past 6 months on the film forums feeling like I'm living in a psych ward. "Mikey Madison is the only lock! Mikey Madison is the only one that makes sense! Mikey Madison has the showiest performance! Anora will sweep and win 4 Oscars!" How are there so many people who have devoted years of their lives to following awards who lost all grip on reality when it came to predicting this film? I never thought it could be anything more than a screenplay contender, and now it doesn't even seem likely to be that.

And the thing is, the certainty that so many people had about Anora made even less sense to me after I watched it. :rip:

Literally all of this :jonny5:

yeah exactly. it was so hyped up. I was excited and prepared to LOVE this movie. I went to see it opening weekend.

I left somewhat underwhelmed and questioning why the film, Sean Baker & Mikey Madison were considered frontrunners.

God, that's boring. Hopefully SAG makes it different.

SAG only really deviates for veteran actors or Picture coattails.

It's a lot more likely that BAFTA does something different. They always go for someone British or in a British production, so look out for an upset in Actor, Actress, or Supporting Actress.
