EnigmaticAndroid Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Been having a good feeling about this movie all year. Feels like something that could come out of nowhere and become a surprise player (and maybe a hit depending on how commercial it is). Allegedly going to premiere at TIFF! 1

Donquizote Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Venice soon. Tilda is coming for that Almodovar's movie British excellence should sweep critics awards this season
EnigmaticAndroid Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Also, SPC is officially distributing The Outrun in North America and are (allegedly) planning going to give it a robust campaign. Intrigued to see what they do if The Room Next Door is strong out of Venice. 1
EnigmaticAndroid Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I refuse to link to Ruimy but he made a post alleging that Blitz along with Hard Truths, The End, and Emmanulle were rejected by Venice. Wbk about the the latter 2 but Blitz and Hard Truths are a surprise. He also said that Blitz is supposed to be McQueen's most accessible film which isn't totally shocking. Atp, it's hard to ignore all of the red flags- Why is it skipping all of the main festivals if it's any good? Why can't it get a theatrical distribution partner if it's populist? I don't think it'll be bad, but literally nothing leads me to believe that it'll be a huge frontrunner for anything. 2

"Joker 2: Folie à Deux," Todd Phillips' edgy musical sequel to his 2019 Golden Lion prizewinning "Joker," starring Gaga and Phoenix, is considered a competition shoo-in Clock OscarGa's name always being mentioned first, ou don't be a legend like that

Komet Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Finally saw Monster, and why the HELL was that paid dust last award season? One of the most beautiful and well-written films I ever saw, true kino if I ever saw one. Lowkey better than any BP nominee, Floppenheimer should've been dead in a ditch. Kinda glad I haven't watched it sooner because I would've been mad the whole season. 1
Donquizote Posted July 18 Posted July 18 The fact that Oscar for Best Actress will be bloodbath again this year
Donquizote Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Love Meryl, but her portrayal as Florence Foster and Margaret Thatcher are parodies 1
Komet Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Tbh I don't think it is, at least it's not anywhere near as strong as 2024. I know we're early in the race, but what are current contenders - SnubGa in a comic book musical sequel, Adams playing a dog in Night[REDACTED], Jolie in a Lorraine biopic that's still without distributor, Ronan in a lowkey supporting role for a movie that seemingly got rejected everywhere, Madison in her first big role, like... it's fine, but I wouldn't call it a bloodbath yet. Last time this year we already had Huller, Robbie and Gladstone as strong contenders before Venice. 2
