Voting ends before SAG 1

Augmented Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I just genuinely can't imagine being an awards voter and being presented with 2 musicals and thinking wow EP was the better option to rally around 1 1 1

SAG will be an indicator of Emilia Pérez's realistic chances since it's the largest guild AND their voting is happening during the whole scandal. if Ariana misses her easiest win at SAG, even after the scandal, then it'll be truly over for her. but if she manages to win, she won't be dead yet. 5
Gottasadae Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I'm rooting for Demi, after all of this years, she deserves recognition from industry I hope, it's her moment and season

Also the real industry awards are SAG and BAFTA But if Zoe still wins SAG after the controversy then she's 100% locked for the Oscars 2
Achilles. Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Everyone always says SAG will be Ariana's "easiest" but (1) it's very rare for people to win SAG without picking up any of the prior precursors (it basically only happens with veteran actors) and (2) SAG of all places is not going to be the only group to go against a sweeping person of color. I think that Ariana needed this in order to get that. Edited February 8 by Achilles. 2 1
kimberly Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I should have known I could not have both an AOTY for Beyoncé and a CCA for Ariana in the same week. I'll try again in 2 weeks 6

SAG loves Wicked, as noted by the random Jonny Bailey nom which is why pundits say Cynthia and Ariana are win competitive there even if they aren't the front runners

It's pretty obvious. If you watch the intro of that movie it features 10+ production company logos. It's backed by so many powerful people in the industry. 1 1

Reddit is saying Zoe's speech was kind of a flop so (in the case that's true) I still will hold out hope and belief

I think that Ariana needed this in order to get that. Literally this. SAG is the most socially conscious group. The odds of them going out of their way to deny an industry veteran of color sweeping so they can award a white popstar is... rather low. Wicked can get Ensemble as its sole win.

Achilles. Posted February 8 Posted February 8 What if Conclave wins SAG Ensemble and PGA. I guess Isabella could win BAFTA and then Ariana could win SAG. But then I'd probably predict Isabella to win the Oscar.
