fridayteenage Posted February 2 Posted February 2 the directing, cinematography, and actress wins indicate that they're not just trying to predict Oscars since they were all snubbed. 1
Hector Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) And the final award: Film Of The Year: The Brutalist! Also Excellence In Film Award went to Daniel Craig. Edited February 2 by Hector
Donquizote Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Yassss Marianne BAFTA next. Time for AMPAS to rescind KSG nomination and replace with Marianne instead
hausofdave Posted February 2 Posted February 2 LFC doesn't usually match BAFTA in actor, at least in recent years (I went back 5 years below but in the last 10, they only matched on Phoenix). 2020: LFC - Boseman / BAFTA - Hopkins 2021: LFC - Cumberbatch / BAFTA - Smith 2022: LFC - Farrell / BAFTA - Butler 2023: LFC - Scott** / BAFTA - Murphy 2024 LFC - Fiennes / BAFTA - ? **no BAFTA nom 1
Antisocialites Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Zoe genuinely seemed so upset... I feel bad for her tbh. 2 2
kimberly Posted February 2 Posted February 2 ITS NOT TOO LATE TO DISQUALIFY KARLA SOFIA GASCON AND PUT MARIANNE JEAN BAPTISTE IN HER PLACE @the academy (and while we're at it, cancel ZOE SALDANA for MICHELE AUSTIN and EMILIA PEREZ for HARD TRUTHS) 3
hausofdave Posted February 2 Posted February 2 London + Globe: Hathaway = BAFTA -> Oscar Arquette = BAFTA -> Oscar Winslet = BAFTA Dern = BAFTA -> Oscar Randolph = BAFTA -> Oscar 5/5 BAFTA 4/5 Oscar, as Globes/BAFTA correctly shunted eventual winner Vikander to lead for Danish Girl 1
Dark Miracles Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) Would they really disqualify Gascón's nomination though? I mean, Yeoh technically also broke the rules by sharing an article questioning whether Blanchett should win a 3rd Oscar and she wasn't DQ'd Edited February 2 by Dark Miracles

BAFTA voting is currently still ongoing, so we'll have our first indicator of how things may shake up when they announce their winners, I guess.

LastKiss Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Kieran and Zoe are winning no matter what it seems Actress is Demi's to lose Actor is now the most interesting race cuz we have 3 candidates 1
Donquizote Posted February 3 Posted February 3 AMPAS used to disqualify original song category. If Gascon got disqualified, that will be the first time for Lead Actress category.

Scars Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I'm a proud KSG hater, but the idea of revoking her nomination seems excessive. This is the same Academy that has rewarded rapists, abusers, and pedophiles with little to no consequences. Not giving any award to that disgusting movie is enough. 2

They even celebrated a man who had just physically assaulted a comedian on stage. There is no reason to discuss rescinding KSG nomination unless it pertains to a woman - no matter what she wrote, and that is where some draw the line on what is considered disqualifying. Up to her to go or no, I wouldn't but she does not seem to be on defensive mode and more offensive so... 1

The will smith situation was way different and does not equal this situation at all. That Situation happened during the oscars and took everyone by suprise. The ksg thing is happening a month before the oscars. She shouldnt go or be allowed to go. The things the oscars have accepted in the past no longer pertain to the future oscars. Ksg is racist, xenophobic, classist and a nazi apologist. She even disrespected the oscars. She needs to be held accountable and be banned. 1
