Karla was the least likely winner in her category even before her mess. Demi's competition remains Fernanda

:dies:

Mikey Madison is the only competition for Demi Moore.

It's very unlikely but I would GAG for a Rossellini win at BAFTA (it has 14 noms there) translating into an Oscar win.

Exactly, Emilia Perez has been a hot topic for weeks since people outside Europe can't comprehend the acclaim and having a new reason to hate on it with Karla's antics has definitely gained a lot of traction. I was boarding a plane yesterday and the guy in front of me was randomly discussing Karla's claims regarding Fernanda to the person next to him, as casually as if he had been talking about household names and some serious political issue. Let's just hope this clears Demi's path.

Europeans don't talk about it because the movie is a non factor here and not many follow the awards race, it didn't even come out at theaters in many places.

the movie is a non-factor everywhere :deadvision:

but I think they mean the European award voters / film critics who have been the main supporters of this movie.

To think that all this drama started because of her weird one-sided obsession with Fernanda, KSG really should've kept her mouth shut. :dies:

With this Fernanda vs Karla thing, basically opening the door for Demi to win, Mikey being thrown in now and then, I had to look up who was the last  nominee. I completely forgot about Cynthia.

"Based on my conversations in recent days with Academy members, many are going to have a hard time voting for Emilia Pérez in any category, given that Emilia Pérez herself has become toxic." - THR

Pundit's Choice have already chosen their winners and BAFTA... well, I don't trust them about Perez for obvious reasons.

It will be the guild awards that will reveal to us whether the industry has really abandoned Emilia Perez or will continue to support the film until the end.

this season is getting uncomfortable. on top for next season from Sundance (where CODA and Minari started their journeys, winning top prizes) could be

twinless, Sundance prize winner. queer Asian excellence as director/writer/co-lead could make history, let's go.

Train Dreams, strong reviews, several Oscar-y performers, Netflix spent apparently upwards of $15 mil to acquire, based on a Pulitzer finalist

EP has been super strong with the European award shows, so we'll see if that trend continues.

Supporting Actress Winner: Zoe Saldana - Emilia Perez!

Her speech is so sad, you can tell she's been hurt by the controversy.
