the most successful LFF world premiere in recent years was GDT's "Pinocchio"

Hmm, I know they might've chosen London for specific reasons, but this isn't promising. Not even TIFF, and everybody thought it was going to play at Cannes or Venice. It isn't getting a true theatrical run either + still no distributor.

"Blitz follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to Rita and his grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in east London, ensues on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son".

This is giving supporting ala ScarJo in Jojo Rabbit. She might have a shot at  being one of top contenders there, but I don't think lead nod is happening rn considering everything.

Problemista getting nothing, frigging flop group :shakeno:

Tilda should be win-competitive in Supporting this year but God knows she'll get a lone Indie Spirit nom :shakeno:

Lighting a candle for this film since it (sadly) came and went :shakeno:

just saw Kinds of Kindness, Plemons my first NGNG prediction

Posted

Denis missing Director? Yeah, I don't see it. With Furiosa being a flop, it's clear that it'll sweep the technicals as well as being a strong BP&BD contender

Posted

thus far nothing from this year has hit both $100 million and 80s on Metacritic. wonder what the first will be.

Posted

Fly me to the moon was very sweet and cute, it lacks some depth in the plot and the supporting cast is very one dimensional and dumb but omg ScarJo ate that role, she's amazing, sexy, witty, charming and cute in the film.

I wouldn't be surprised if she gets at least a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical role for the GG and also the film for Best Comedy/Musical; Jim Rash was also very funny and could snatch a nom for Best Supporting Actor in Comedy.

This feels pretty much like the female version of last year's Air or like the white fenced cutesy version of Hidden Figures which had a better script, characters and emotional beats, but still if Apple pushes the film I could see it landing some noms.

Hoping that The Deliverance is as good as Get Out.

We want that 9th nomination for Glenn :duca:

Her look is giving American Horror Story: Crack Den. Thinking about it, I'm actually surprised Ryan hasn't snatched her up yet and milked her dry for all it's worth. :dies:

If she could get nominated for that horrendous Hillbilly Elegy, she could get nominated for this one if the review is decent :duca:
