gomez comparisons, globe + Bafta + sag ensemble:

ellis-taylor, Richard - nominated

Streep, adaptation - nominated

Smith, gosford - nominated

hmm. only 3 comparison points in 3 decades. they did all make it in, but not a large sample size.

Smith and Streep should be out of the comparison since they were already legends when they got their respective nominations.

I refuse to believe JLC is about to eek out an Oscar nom for Last Showgurl while the actually acclaimed lead performance by Anderson gets nothing. That should not be happening. It's happened before with movies like Georgia, but at least Mare Winningham also gave a very good performance

Tariq Khan and Jeff Sneider are predicting Demi's snub :suburban::rip:

Love it when Tariq makes his NGNG prediction. Remember he said last year Robbie and Cooper would win SAG :suburban:

Saw The Brutalist last night. The first part was stronger to me…and the ending was kind of eh. I probably need to watch again but that movie is almost 4 hours long

After watching The Last Showgirl, Ms Lee is getting nominated methinks. That's a good supporting performance :suburban:

But Pamela was a revelation :jonny5:Too bad she'll be snubbed :rip:

As someone who also got bored during floppenheimer, i wasn't particularly excited for the brutalist but i saw it yesterday and i was so pleasantly surprised! It's actually pretty well paced for such a long film. I found Opp hard to follow bc of the 473727 characters while brutalist zones in on a small cast

ellis-taylor, Richard — only nominee from the movie in Supporting Actress

Streep, adaptation — only nominee from the movie in Supporting Actress

Smith, gosford — one of 2 nominees from the movie in Supporting Actress

only one of them lines up in this way with Selena, for what it's worth.

In recent news of this AI thing Brody, Jones, Saldana, Gomez, and Gascon should all be disqualified from being nominated.:lakitu: JLC too because I just cannot stand her.

This would make room for Qualleytea, Deadwyllegend, and maybe Grant to sneak in the acting categories s:wan:

France's version of the Golden Globes:

In the last 5 years, three women have been nominated with just one precursor:

Kathy Bates, Richard Jewell (GG)
Jessie Buckley, The Lost Daughter (BAFTA)
America Ferrera, Barbie (CC)

If Barbaro gets nominated with just SAG, they'll have a full set between them

JLC is a crazy brown-noser behind the scenes there's no other explanation

She's Hollywood royalty and she loves to glad hand; it really doesn't take a lot more than that
