Maria just wasn't good enough 1

All I was saying was that it seemed like Angelina had everything in her corner only for it to completely evaporate as the movie started to become more widely seen.

Either way I still love watching her performance 1

I still maintain Natalie should have been the winner if Amy Adams wasn't in play and Viola Davis stayed in Supporting.
Deactivatedos Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago These SAG nods.. oh I was in denial! Firstly, goodbye to Sing Sing, Angelina Jolie, and Selena Gomez! Happy to see the A Complete Unknown and Monica Barbaro get some love! ALSO LETS ******* GO PAM ANDERSON!!!!!!!!!!! I nEED her to get the Oscar nod!!! Jamie Lee is one of my all time fave actors (Laurie Strode is the all time slasher protagonist), but can awards bodies stop nominating/awarding Curtis over my personal faves in a year (Stephanie Hsu and Margaret Qualley you both were SO deserving of WINS IN SUPPORTING). Jeremy Strong has GG + probably BAFTA + SAG ... he very much can show up over Clarence Maclin (travesty, Maclin should be WINNING). Supporting Actor this year is whatecver to me cus Maclin, Eydelshteyn, and Tucci are all deserving of nods. 1

hausofdave Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Kapadia for the "surprise" Thomas Vinteberg type of nom. First time since 1997 to be an all newbie line up 1
DanyelP23 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Thinking of Moore's winning chances at SAG after The Substance missed Qualley and DGA, I looked up SAG Best Actress winners who were their movie's sole nominee at SAG in the last 25 years. We have 10 / 25 (40%) nominees who were the only SAG nomination (and also win) for their movies. 5/10 (50%) of the list played a real person, 100% of those 5 went on to win the Oscar. 5/10 (50%) played a fictional character. 60% (3) went on to win the Oscar. These actresses were: 1. Julianne Moore, Still Alice -> only nomination for the movie, weak category, overdue narrative 2. Cate Blanchette, Blue Jasmine -> due/overdue narrative, swept all precursors, the TRIFECTA and most of the regionals 3. Halle Berry, Monster' Ball -> movie that might have appealed to the white audiences of its time, I'm unaware what her narrative was around her other than a historic FIRST win for black women in the category I honestly don't know where Moore would fit in here. Especially given the genre of her film (to be fair, Yeoh and Stone were also in 'genre' movies in a way, but both of their movies won 4+ Oscars in total and had 11 noms each. However at SAG, Stone did not have ensemble and lost, while EEAO won all the categories it was nominated in) Ughhh I don't know what to think 1
hausofdave Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Culkin Norton Borisov Pearce Strong Unless Snub Snub has a resurgence for Maclin, this seems like the five.
fridayteenage Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Halles competition was spacek, previous winner in a supporting role that had no shot at any other win
Blade Runner Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Villeneuve not getting anywhere is sick and disgusting. Literally pathetic and makes no sense at all. Also, SAG is a lazy organization. 1

Jude Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I have a strong feeling Ariana is winning the supporting actress category. Wicked is winning best cast.
hausofdave Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago A24 deserves to be raked over the coals for their handling of Sunb Snub. To not even get a SAG ensemble nom out of that movie in the end? Complete and utter failure. 1 1

Premiering at TIFF in 2023 and not capitalizing on a film festival circuit or a Q4 release in 2023 or 2024?

I believe that has absolutely zero precedent. jukebox musical romcom they were all out-out. Berry and spacek were pretty close because of racism, yes, but the supporting role + already having an Oscar + not being a contender to win anything else were able to push past that. In my opinion the 3 closest races this century in actress were the victories for Yeoh, Berry, and Cotillard. all edging past previous winners. Edited 12 hours ago by fridayteenage 1
