popmusicisdead Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago i was gonna rage that both SAINT and Nicole are OUT but nice to see Pam Anderson get in. it won't do much for Oscar chances but it's still nice to see 1
hausofdave Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago So Anora got f*** by the Globes and The Brutalist got f*** by SAG. Dread it, run from it, Emilia Perez is inevitable 1 1
grandewhispers Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Can anyone tell me why SAG are an important Oscar's prosecutor? Either way, looks like it's a good sign for Wicked. It got the most nominations right?
DanyelP23 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Imagine the following: Critics Choice: Madison GG Drama: Torres GG Comedy: Moore SAG: Erivo BAFTA: Erivo Jean-Baptiste as our top 5 1
hausofdave Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Denzel getting snubbed at SAG out of all the places…. oof 1
Selegend Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Selena needed SAG, but at the same time Qualley and Jones also missing it kinda make the race still open… 3
Riot Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Pamela AND Jaime Li? Oh miss Anderson is coming for that Oscar nomination 2
hausofdave Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Jolie is not getting in If she can't get in at SAG.... 1

X~MoviePoP Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Denzel...oh goodness. Only save for him would be Bafta.... Yay for pamela Feel bad for angelina cause her performance was amazing. And yah this was Jennifer lopez last hope. But dont worry "kiss of the spiderwoman" is coming
Riot Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Wicked overperformed big time, EXCELLENT news for Ariana 1 2
hausofdave Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago This Actor 5 feels fully locked in now. Craig being recognised amid some other very basic choices in other categories is a shock. Supp. Actress revives Deadwyler, but SAG did nom her for Till last time too, and they like Netflix. I'm glad I called Barbaro, and I think she makes it in with the Academy. I would swap JLC out for Felicity Jones. Gomez missing here absolutely ends her chances. 1

Not necessarily, if she makes BAFTA, I still kinda have her in too.
McNulty Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Best TV Limited/Movie Actress being the only category with 6 nomination, Kathy Bates paid for this idc 2

Either way, looks like it's a good sign for Wicked. It got the most nominations right? Critics Choice are voted by... well - critics. Golden Globes are voted by foreign "journalists", have a very small body of members (like 200) and have been in scandals for having awards being bought off in the past (and I heard certain rumors this year too) BAFTA - a good number of this awards body is also part of The Academy, but in their voting process for the nominations, to my knowledge, everyone can vote (or at least a group formed not only of actors for acting, directors for directing and so on) SAG - is composed only/mostly of actors (most of them which are regular - 1 commercial, 1 short movie no1 saw and 1 cameo in a no1currs TV show every 2 years) mostly, and also to a lesser extent announcers, broadcast journalists, dancers, DJs, news writers, news editors, program hosts, puppeteers, recording artists, singers, stunt performers and voiceover artists (but a lot of them overlap with being an actor too). SAG is important, because while its voting body is huge (100k+) compared to The Academys ~1500 actors branch, it reflects how actors feel about certain performances - and its nomination process involves only/mostly actors, just like The Academy (where actors nominate actors, directors nominate directors etc). GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Respectfully, is Ariana Grande receiving 'Best Supporting…' nominations due to the success of WICKED? Historically, musicals have always been awards bait (especially at the Oscars), but why do I get the feeling the actors in the film (except for Cynthia Erivo whose performance was actually noteworthy) are being nominated due to how big the film is and not necessarily because of the performances? I love Grande but her receiving these acting nominations are so confusing and hilarious to me. I'm not really understanding Pamela Anderson's nominations either so far. Angelina Jolie snubbed? Margaret Qualley snubbed? Marianne Jean-Baptiste snubbed? Hopefully the Academy Awards see some sense and nominate the aforementioned three. They really deserve it. Tusk Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I know it's just filler nom, but Craig in Queer was not good enough acting to be recognized. 1 1
hausofdave Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Chalamet might win SAG. A Complete Unknown did phenomenal here. The Brutalist only got 1 nomination. Barbaro and Norton got in + ensemble. They didn't care for Pearce or Jones. Sing Sing only got 1 nomination (Domingo). They ignored Tucci and Rosselini for Conclave. 1
