DanyelP23 Posted Sunday at 12:02 AM Posted Sunday at 12:02 AM I saw about half of Nosferatu today because I had the emergency and had to leave the cinema... Great gowns, beautiful cinematography, I'll say that. What's with the discussion about Lily Rose Depp being "a revelation"? Does she do something outstanding in the second half of the movie? Also, Skarsgard looked and sounded gross - which I guess was how he was supposed to be.
NoAngelus Posted Sunday at 12:11 AM Posted Sunday at 12:11 AM I just watched Conclave and nothing against her but why is Isabella Rossellini even in the picture here during awards season? She had like 5 scenes and talked in like 3 of them with barely any relevance to the plot, and she didn't do anything here. This is literally a fraud. 1

Conclave 5. Wicked 6. Dune: Part Two 7. A Complete Unknown 8. The Substance 9. Nickel Boys 10. Sing Sing I don't see "A Real Pain" breaking through here. "All We Imagine As Light" could surprise, but there doesn't seem to be enough buzz. "September 5" hasn't showed up on any of the shortlists/longlists that it's really needed to show up in. "Challengers" could surprise if it lands Editing, Score, Sound, Song, etc., but I just am not confident that's breaking through here... especially after the BAFTA longlists shut it out. pretty much seems to be the consensus. Gladiator is also pretty much dead, it appears (rightfully so). The Seed of the Sacred Fig and All We Imagine As Light are both knocking on the door. but I don't think either of them will manage to get in, unfortunately. A Real Pain might swap in for Nickel Boys, potentially. I feel Sing Sing is #9. 1
kimberly Posted Sunday at 12:31 AM Posted Sunday at 12:31 AM I really liked A Complete Unknown. Timmy did great, and it did not feel like a 2h20m film. Monica Barbaro (who played Joan Baez) kept reminding me of Lorde. 1
hausofdave Posted Sunday at 12:38 AM Posted Sunday at 12:38 AM (edited) only Imelda Staunton was nominated this century from Mike Leigh Edited Sunday at 03:09 AM by hausofdave

We'll she's less of a (category) fraud than Saldana, Grande, Qualley or even Deadwyler who can arguably be seen as co-leads or full-on leads going supporting. The fact is she's campaigning very hard, has the narrative of being THEE nepo-baby-royalty who has never been rewarded before by the Academy for her work and is in a movie likely to make it in other categories as well. The discussion of category fraud is much more prevalent in online spaces/easier to take off in Critics spaces, which would explain why she shows up in so many regional critics awards as a nom. The Golden Globes were always gonna nominate her provided she showed up to some of her events, and the Critics Choice mostly want to predict the Oscars.

Almodusa Posted Sunday at 05:03 AM Author Posted Sunday at 05:03 AM Watched The Substance and it's intriguing but like… idk Great makeup effects beautiful makeup effects, love yourself etc
Into The Void Posted Sunday at 05:05 AM Posted Sunday at 05:05 AM (edited) Are any of these Critics loved movies any good? I tend to normally find 80% of them so boring Edited Sunday at 05:05 AM by Into The Void
EnigmaticAndroid Posted Sunday at 05:06 AM Posted Sunday at 05:06 AM While she probably wouldn't be in my Top 5, Rossellini does a genuinely great job with a role and delivers a ton with a little. Her presence and silent acting is integral to the film. Its a deserving supporting turn. 1

fridayteenage Posted Sunday at 05:14 AM Posted Sunday at 05:14 AM (edited) I mean, Lee is a movie that people thought would be an actress frontrunner when it was announced years ago b/c of the subject matter. it's kinda nothing like to Leslie which no one had heard of until suddenly everyone was tweeting about it like a chain letter. it's also made more than 10x as much money. Edited Sunday at 05:19 AM by fridayteenage 3
hausofdave Posted Sunday at 06:12 AM Posted Sunday at 06:12 AM would be interesting if the top two turned out to be Madison and Moore since it would rather mirror part of the theme of Demi's film. 1

Sebastian Stan played that character brilliantly. Sebastian Stan should've been sweeping the category with this performance. He was incredible and the movie is one of the best of the year 1

Riot Posted Sunday at 10:35 AM Posted Sunday at 10:35 AM The Globes need to keep the same energy that they had when the gave Best Actress to Madonna with Ariana 3
Donquizote Posted Sunday at 10:44 AM Posted Sunday at 10:44 AM Then Madonna got SNUBBED I wish they did something crazy for Best Supporting Actress/Actor by giving to non frontrunner, like they did for Aaron Taylor Johnson in Nocturnal Animal.
