fridayteenage Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 (edited) right now the consensus is that 3 different films will have 2 female leads nominated (each using fraud). that just seems too much to me. since the last time the academy had 2 actually against each other for Thelma and Louise, there isn't precedent for so many films pulling off getting two female leads in (using fraud) at the same time. i'm most confident in Emilia Perez atm. Years where there were arguably 3 'supporting' actress frauds based on screentime 1951 Mating season: sole acting nom Salesman: male lead nom Streetcar: female lead nom 1969 Cactus flower, Last summer: sole acting nom Bob & carol: no lead nom 1995 Georgia, Mighty aphrodite: sole acting nom Sense and sensibility: female lead nom 2006 Dreamgirls, Little miss sunshine: no lead nom Notes on a scandal: female lead nom 2015 Hateful eight: sole acting nom Danish girl: male lead nom Carol: female lead nom Edited December 22, 2024 by fridayteenage
kimberly Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 saw The Seed of the Sacred Fig today. devastating, terrifying, brilliantly executed. 1 1
X~MoviePoP Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Ok so i think theres a chance sebastian stan gets the 5th slot over queer 1
MAXIMO Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 It caught me off guard how much I liked The Seed of The Sacred Fig, I was intending to watch it just to make sure to watch everything that is in contention just for the sake of it, but it ended up being such a thrilling and captivating film, so brave and daring, especially considering how it was filmed. Definitely one of the best films of the year for me. Rasoulof deserves a BD and/or BOS nomination.
ctlp27 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Queer was not good. Clearly the lesser good film of Luca. Kind of disappointed. This year getting weaker and weaker. 1
hausofdave Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 apparently Kidman threw a dinner party to Globes voters last week.
Lovett Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Daniel Craig was fantastic in Queer, I hope he snags a nomination. 2

I'm taking a chance on Erivo coming out in the #3-5 range. Finally saw a trailer for Hard Truths at the movie theater today. MJB has me excited for her performance. I just saw that Variety has Erivo as their #1 prediction they have Moore and Kidman out. And the Predicted Nominees Are Oscars 2025: Best Actress Table with 4 columns and 5 rows. Donquizote Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hope backlash soon from Globes members against Kidman. And they accused Leo and Kate being thirsty. The audacity
hausofdave Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 iirc Kidman also did zoom calls with globes voters in 2022 1
hausofdave Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 only one person has ever won actress without a Globe nomination, Sophia Loren (1962) 1

After missing the CC nom, I don't blame her for pulling so hard for this. Most of the main contenders are in C/M Actress category so whoever wins Drama Actress category is probably going to be the only Oscar nominee from that six. I, too, would pull out all the stops 2
