That's how google and IMDb describe the category, but yeah, looking at the past nominees, that's why I found it so weird
4Real Posted Monday at 05:24 AM Posted Monday at 05:24 AM Oh how i love seeing the gringos FUME over Fernanda's win over their predictable overrated american actresses yawnnnnnn 1 1

I might just cave and finally watch it this week. I've only been hesitating cause it seems like something I would absolutely love while understanding why so many are off-put by it. I love a good absurd pop opera. The sex change clinic scene that went viral on Twitter was camp brilliance to me. (Poor Repo! The Genetic Opera being probably 20 years too early and would be considered brilliant if done by Netflix in 2024) Also need to watch The Brutalist for fellow Hungarian girly Adrien Brody though the pieces I've seen about its open-ended / unclear view on Zionism is.. Selena has the best actress award at Cannes along with other ensemble awards 1
fridayteenage Posted Monday at 05:44 AM Posted Monday at 05:44 AM since 2009 mo'nique yes Leo yes Spencer yes Hathaway yes lawrence no, but she was a reigning champion already and was against the BP winner Arquette yes Winslet no; the winner was actually placed in lead at the globes Davis yes Janney yes king yes Dern yes foster no, she was snubbed while Youn was snubbed at the globes Debose yes Bassett no, she was against the BP winner Randolph yes Saldana will not be snubbed, co-leads weren't moved to lead against the campaign, she's not a reigning champion. So I guess the closest precedent would be Bassett, but black panther 2's other globe nom was song while Emilia perez was the night's biggest winner. both 'supporting' winners look very locked. 1

Park Jinyoung Posted Monday at 06:40 AM Posted Monday at 06:40 AM all those publicists in one room and no one thought to get a pic of Adam and Adrien Brody together
Gui Blackout Posted Monday at 06:44 AM Posted Monday at 06:44 AM Where is this support for Emilia Perez coming from cause I only see people from all sides hating on it 1
fridayteenage Posted Monday at 06:45 AM Posted Monday at 06:45 AM still feeling good about Moore/Madison/Gascon noms. the rest will have to fight it out for the next week and a half...

This film being this highly rated by the industry just baffles me. If you look at the other nominees: Anora Wicked The Substance Challengers A Real Pain It's comfortably in 5th or 6th place quality wise. Zoe winning Supporting is equally as category fraud as Kieran Culkin, even though they both did excellent as MAIN. But thats another topic for another day.

People who don't like it are literally tasteless and should not be trusted T H I S SO SO SO SO happy for Emilia Perez and Demi Im a little bit sad for Ari but oh well Zoe was amazing as well 4
Katamari Posted Monday at 07:32 AM Posted Monday at 07:32 AM odds of Ms. Deadwyler getting an oscar nom?
Johnny Jacobs Posted Monday at 07:34 AM Posted Monday at 07:34 AM Jeremy winning for the third time in a row is a joke. Especially for that mid season
Blade Runner Posted Monday at 07:35 AM Posted Monday at 07:35 AM DEMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. A huge win for internal performances. Still need to see almost everything (The Brutalist, Anora, etc etc), but it feels like the race got interesting. Poor Timmy tho.
Blade Runner Posted Monday at 07:36 AM Posted Monday at 07:36 AM The absolute hate Latino Twitter has for Emilia Perez, lmfaooo.
Vermillion Posted Monday at 07:42 AM Posted Monday at 07:42 AM The disconnect between the visceral, overwhelming hatred for Emilia Perez I've seen across social media that isn't letting up at all clashing with these awards has been a jarring experience. The last time there was negative engagement on this continuous level was Crash winning over Brokeback Mountain.
Evans Posted Monday at 07:45 AM Posted Monday at 07:45 AM The Latin audience HATES Emilia Pérez, they're dragging it and making memes all over TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter. I don't think this hate campaign will affect the nominations much, but it definitely won't be remembered kindly. 1
Vermillion Posted Monday at 07:52 AM Posted Monday at 07:52 AM Is Demi allowed to be discussed here as being in serious contention and not just for a pity nomination? I'm truly sad that the possibility's already being dismissed outright as inherently political. The rest of the awards season already has a storm cloud over it it seems. Just sad.
OnlyManInTheWorld Posted Monday at 08:04 AM Posted Monday at 08:04 AM Emilia Perez is my favorite movie of 2024. Absolutely incredible. I'm glad Zoe won Substance is my #2. Fingers crossed for Demi winning that damn Oscar 2 1

The Globes did what they needed to do to stop all momentum it had gained thanks to payola So far I've seen "Anora", "Emilia Perez", "A Complete Unknown", "The Substance", "Wicked", "Dune 2" and a couple of others. "Anora" was a cute 7/10, just didn't leave a mark on me.
