Tusk Posted Monday at 04:29 AM Posted Monday at 04:29 AM The legacy award has gone to a supporting role lately but this year it has moved to Lead Actress.

Last year at least we had Oppenheimer, Poor Things and Anatomy of a Fall We had two huge films in contention last year and there isn't a star as big as Emma Stone in the running this time

I only see Culkin as a lock, Brody is very very likely but I still think Timothy could upset, and I have no idea who to predict for lead actress (I don't think Mikey is the lock everyone think it is), and for Supporting Actress I think Ariana could upset if she has a win and a good speech at the CCA (specially if EP somehow underperforms at the noms)

She should have won this award easily. Jolie has no critics wins and no festival wins. Every other viable nominee has either a critics win or a Globes win now. Idk how you can say she's locked in when Fernanda is also in a biopic and just won too. Edited Monday at 04:35 AM by lgaga1fan 1
Assassin Posted Monday at 04:34 AM Posted Monday at 04:34 AM Wicked winning the consolation box office prize, like Barbie. At least it made sense for Barbie was the highest grossing movie of 2023 but makes no sense for Wicked to win that award. 1

I don't think she's locked, the only locks I see are Mikey and Karla (for noms), the other contenders have something going against them, Angelina's and Nicole's buzz is fading or barely there, Demi has the horror bias against her (I think she's getting in tho), and Cynthia is in a fantasy film, these last 4 are battling for the last three spots (imo), so Jolie could get in simply cause she's on a more baity too
Kylizzle Posted Monday at 04:39 AM Posted Monday at 04:39 AM Demi's speech solidified it... she'll win everywhere. This may be a four sweeper season. 5

The films with more european sensibilities swept here. The Critics Choice Awards could easily favor films like Wicked and Anora and A Complete Unknown and they've already voted too. 2

Moore and Saldana look likelier by the day there. And of course, Culkin was always sweeping. 2

Into The Void Posted Monday at 04:48 AM Posted Monday at 04:48 AM (edited) How is The Substance a musical or comedy Edit: half the nominees are not even remotely a comedy these categories need to be renamed Edited Monday at 04:52 AM by Into The Void 1
Alyssa Edwards Posted Monday at 04:53 AM Posted Monday at 04:53 AM I like the director but Anora's just really overrated, i find it fair that it got nothing. 1 1 1

Still, it's a very weird category. 1
Selegend Posted Monday at 04:57 AM Posted Monday at 04:57 AM EMILIA PÉREZ!!!!!!!!!! and oh, Selena looks GORGEOUS. She's made for this old Hollywood style. 3

Bhabylon Posted Monday at 05:16 AM Posted Monday at 05:16 AM Yeah I also found Anora to be very overrated
Communion Posted Monday at 05:20 AM Posted Monday at 05:20 AM (edited) Emilia Perez being so lauded and awarded for literally everyone part of the project except Selena is so ??? njknkjn. I might just cave and finally watch it this week. I've only been hesitating cause it seems like something I would absolutely love while understanding why so many are off-put by it. I love a good absurd pop opera. The sex change clinic scene that went viral on Twitter was camp brilliance to me. (Poor Repo! The Genetic Opera being probably 20 years too early and would be considered brilliant if done by Netflix in 2024) Also need to watch The Brutalist for fellow Hungarian girly Adrien Brody though the pieces I've seen about its open-ended / unclear view on Zionism is.. I mean if you are trying to be original at least have a set of balls and go for Pamela Anderson We've seen this foreign actress narrative with much superior Isabelle Huppert and that could only get her to a nomination. Oh well. Just take the L and shut up. Fernanda >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
