I don't think the industry views the performance as a serious contender. As long as she gets the Oscar nomination Ariana will be more than fine. After what happened with J.Lo nothing is sure so she better keep campaigning 1

I was also surprised by how muted the reception in the room to the wicked callouts during the monologue. You cannot win an Oscar - you have to buy it. That's why there's always such an expensive awards campaign right before it. It definitely would have been nice recognition and a jewel in the crown but Ariana ended up with something way more important - commercial viability. Zoe Saldana needs it anyway. She's an excellent actor and great person who broke out in 2002 after Britney's Crossroads and will become the highest grossing actor ever this December…but she only has a networth of $60M. She deserves her flowers and better pay, and this is a great leap forward. 3

I'm happy for her but god the pandering and cringe every year is why more and more people are getting turned off from Hollywood every year she's been in the industry forever and hasn't received any notable awards until now I need yall to be for real yall are the ones doing the absolute most 1

You can't buy respect, which is why Ariana will not be winning it, over people who have been cutting their teeth in the movie game since 2002, as you noted. If she wants an acting Oscar, she's going to have to prove herself in a non-musical role - which is why I would also not expect her to win for Wicked 2 either. Edited Monday at 01:40 AM by MAKSIM 1

hausofdave Posted Monday at 01:45 AM Posted Monday at 01:45 AM Asano should've won the Emmy as well 1
Scandalous Posted Monday at 01:46 AM Posted Monday at 01:46 AM these TV awards are so boring bc they just rehash all the emmy winners
DanyelP23 Posted Monday at 01:47 AM Posted Monday at 01:47 AM Margaret looked kinda pressed when Saldana won
Communion Posted Monday at 01:48 AM Posted Monday at 01:48 AM People originally predicting for years for Wicked to be a Razzies affair now acting like it's some failure if Ariana only walks out of award season with noms and no wins. Her getting nominations in every major ceremony would be an extraordinary result of her first film role. (Also kinda selfishly need the idea of her as a runaway breakout acting star a little tamed so ES Deluxe comes faster this year ) 4

Which is shocking. She's not even getting proper participations. Katy Perry's 7 years on American Idol got her about 3x as much money as Zoe Saldana's 20+ years in films that grossed over $14B. 4 minutes ago, KingWitch said: No one went out to watch Avatar because they heard Zoe Saldana was there ,it was all James Cameron ,the overhyping of assigning grosses to whoever had a role needs to stop The Way of Water paid out $300M in participations but the main actor has a networth of $30M and Zoe Saldana has a networth of $60M. I'd say he's getting paid more than well enough. Green Posted Monday at 01:55 AM Posted Monday at 01:55 AM I remember when the Golden Globe awards used to have different winners every year in the TV categories, now they just copy and paste the Emmy winners of the previous season 1
kimberly Posted Monday at 01:55 AM Posted Monday at 01:55 AM 1 hour ago, JoJo said: That's not necessarily true. Megan Thee Stallion and the cast of Encanto performed We Can't Talk About Bruno even though the song wasn't nominated. Ariana and Cynthia will definitely perform because the Oscars need a ratings boost. that was a nearly unprecedented scenario where Encanto DID have a nominated song, but everyone wanted to hear the #1 hit — so they let them rock. Wicked will NOT have an original song nomination and there really isn't any example of a movie like this getting a performance slot. I mean, I'd love for your wishful thinking to come true — but I'm warning folks NOT to expect it. it's FAR from certain.
