AvadaKedavra Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) Nah she wouldnt be as sucessful. She's an artist who always served cutesy and fairytelesque visuals but in a different way to katy Her sweet appeal is one of the reasons also why she's so huge Taylor has a very reductive vision of how to be a man is and all the social cues and things we have to adjust to As a man she wouldnt be able to serve things like you belong with me-fifteen-shake it off and so many of her songs. He would be called corny and childish Males have different rules when it comes to releases. He would have more limits for "manliness" and he would need more street creed to be respect like it happened to justin bieber I think she would be more like some sort of ed sheeran but miles more respected and loved cause he would be beautiful and charming Or maybe some sort of John mayer-Josh groban Or maybe he would find a way to be something bigger than the songwriter thing and be more a michael jackson type of artist Taylor brain is too powerful I think he would be highly loved by the american female teens and definitely in the top 5 most streamed male singers cause his lyrics are poetic He would also probably turn to Acting and get acclaim in that Edited December 31, 2023 by AvadaKedavra
GraceRandolph Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I never understood this argument from her specifically. She has a brother who got less attention and wasn’t as big of a priority for her parents, so I’m not sure why her being born a man would’ve made her more successful in particular. I don’t really know if a teen boy country singer in 2005/2006 would’ve had longevity either, because female fans tend to move onto the next boy band or male singer quickly.
Kodak Energy Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) I think she would’ve initially been bigger as a boy and sold more as the sweet sensitive cute guy, a bigger version of Justin/Bruno but had less longevity as she aged and people expected her to get manlier as her brand is very girl coded and feminine. But I also think whist she’d get less publicity she’d get less criticism, less magazine covers and less body shaming so she’d never have developed an eating disorder. She would be able to date more openly and wouldn’t be criticised for it, so she’d probably have formed longer relationships earlier. She’d have had less industry feuds, because the media wouldn’t put her against other popstars as often in the late 00s/ early 10s etc. Snapchat-gate wouldn’t have happened, she wouldn’t get Tina Fey telling her to stay away from … or be called boy crazy and have Ellen constantly harrassing her about her boyfriends. Zefierce Posted January 2 Posted January 2 The most success she would've gotten as a male artist would be maybe getting on American Idol, possibly winning, and fading like the rest of the 'white guy with a guitar' winners
alestevens Posted January 2 Posted January 2 She would likely have had an easier time in the start, maybe had just as big of an initial peak back in the 2000s, but then she would have faded. Having glass ceilings to break, haters to prove wrong and barriers to destroy were essential to fueling her determination to become a legend, and male artists very rarely face that much adversity.
