Bloodflowers. Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Before her performance of Intuition in London (global tingz), the Alaskan Joni Mitchell talked briefly of what was her life like during 0304 era and how music industry treated her for wearing sexy clothes. 1
Peroxide Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) Did she make a random Amber Heard diss? Well, that aside... yeah the story she tells at the start is genuinely very sad. It's a shame she was the victim of so much **** shaming... That being said, I am REALLY struggling to clock the Cole Porter influences on that album, musically, lyrically... etc Edited December 28, 2023 by Peroxide 1

barbiegrande Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Wasn’t 0304 meant to be an “ironic” album though? Basically her shading the pop industry of the time.

queenoftheclouds Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 It's sad that Folk/Country singers Had to do Pop for an era and flopped hard with that. All These amazing girls Like her, Colbie, LeAnn ect. didn't deserved that. 1

FanService Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 She won though, she gave us Stand and Intuition both of which are classics 1
popmusicisdead Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 she didn't lie. it's shocking how openly misogynistic publications were back then. just read reviews for "Dirrty". people were basically calling Xtina a hooker. that would not fly today at all 2

x æ a-xii Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) This queen spilled. Such amazing voice and lyrics. She deserves the world for Serve the Ego (original + remixes) alone. And please stop comparing this talented woman to those people... She's no TS or Colbie... she's just the original Jewel... Go stream Intuition for your daily dose of talentry and class. plasticboy Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 does the 2003 album have a ton of pop bops????

Truth Teller Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Ok this is a cringey performance. And why did she randomly come for Amber Heard? The lyric doesn't even work, she's not trying to teach us love. 0304 is an indefensibly bad album. Intuition was a standout but she literally couldn't perform it (and apparently still can't). Plus she still hasn't decided if she was going for ironic or wholeheartedly trying to make a pop album -and it doesn't work as either of the two anyway. She's right about the 90's being a little too pretentious and even the Lilith Fair movement, with all the good it did for female singers-songwriters, came with a lot of conditions and limitations on how they needed to look, sound and write to be taken seriously, but... Jewel was also just not very good (and apparently still isn't). Seems sweet and all. 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Intuition was a Bop. People couldn’t appreciate it’s Lyricism at the time 1

If you like early 2000s cheap bubblegum pop songs then you'll eat them all out! Run 2 You, Yes U Can, U & Me = Love of course singles Intuition and Stand! 2 hours ago, Sergi91 said: I read that she basically did the pop/dance album because the final single from the previous album had a dance remix that did well on the dance charts which gave her the idea of doing a pop/dance album blame this remix for killing her career Her career was already on a decline by that point. If she kept her same sound/image, she would've faded away like Alanis Morissette. Jewel's song "Standing Still" peaked at #25 on Billboard Hot 100 in 2001 while her second single failed to chart. Similarly Alanis released a Top 25 single "Hands Clean" in 2002 while her second single "Precious Illusions" failed to chart. If anything, Jewel going pop put her in the commercial spotlight a little bit longer. She also had a lot of private, family issues going on with her mother as Intuition was smashing. 4
