It sucks that he’s such a horrible person (and that right wing losers still defend him) because he really was a phenomenal actor. The first three seasons of House of Cards were truly sensational. I even liked the last season without him because it was so absurdly stupid and camp with Claire as president.

 

OITNB was bigger as a cultural moment as others have noted.

House of Cards is generally accepted as having made both Netflix and original shows on streaming platforms a thing. Historians and critics have already stated that. The show was a domestic and international hit and was a gamble. No one believed that anything put on streaming would take off but HOC did. It made Netflix and streaming legitimate competition.
