El Nino Posted January 13 Posted January 13 It's sad that he killed/killing his career by leaning into a gimmick. Being gay is already seen as a gimmick to the GP. That is why gay artists tend not to last after a big era. I don't know what happened but since the BET awards/snub he has been hellbent on this untouched underdog shtick that is tiring. Just make good music, Nas. We liked Call Me By Your Name, Industry Baby, and That's What I Want because they were great songs when you took away the theatric. None of your music since then has been good. The music video was aimless...The point you tried to make no one cares. Just focus on the music. If Jack Harlow can get hits, so can you. 7 2
AvadaKedavra Posted January 13 Posted January 13 (edited) I always been supportive of Lil nas but after those rude madonna-gaga comments i dont care anymore. Theyre icons of the gay community and to underplay them is not good. Is like people disrespecting icons from specific communities like Beyonce or Shakira. Feels nasty. I havent watched the video yet. I just dont care about it. Will watch probably in some weeks. Watching Ariana new video instead To be honest i was not hyped. Religious controversy has been done too much and is boring. Should go for another controversial route better. Im totally sure this is one of the reasons why Olivia new album just passed without too much hype-circus. She repeated the same formula just a bit different. Lil nas should try something different........Maybe something political or sexual like jerking off live or feuding with some celeb.....The religious thing was expected. Something we havent seen yet and could be highly controversial but not career ender. The song is also not strong enough. Montero was such an interesting single structure-genre wise. This one feels like Cardi B Up like everyone said.... Hope he recovers himself with the next single. Maybe he will get more ideas in desesperate times. I wonder if he has a card or multiple cards under his sleeve Maybe its time to release deeper music with interesting visuals-ideas instead of just playing the controversial card. He needs to be more humble. His ego grew to large lately and thats ruining him. In this moment he's in the same position of Dua with the weird Houdini. Should scrap everything and go back to the drawing board I dont want him to be a ONE ERA WONDER but i hope he takes some feedback. If this turns into a Hit i would be shocked Hope he comes with catchier music next Just giving my honest controversial opinion Edited January 13 by AvadaKedavra 2
on the line Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I wanted to like this but it's just not a good song. Too bad.
wish Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Sadly his promo has only gone "viral" on Christian TikTok and Homophobic Tiktok, just take one look at his comments and you'll see the burning dumpster fire Tbh this is Montero's own fault for specifically targeting that audience with his "gospel" shtick just to turn around and release a sacrilegious video. The outrage bait just isn't working in his favor this time, the song is a downgrade and his usual defenders are bored of the gimmicks. 1
Rigalo Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I think it’s a good idea to give everything a few days but the fact that this still hasn’t debuted on AM is… really telling
Jormungand Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Yeah I don't see it for him this era... Even that weirdo Kai spoke of his disdain for Lil Nas at this point and his viewers make up majority of LNX's listeners. The song is just generic as hell and him doubling down on the gimmicks makes him a gimmick artist, and not an original one. If you're gonna be a gimmick, at least let your music have some substance. It's really sad that he's lost sight of himself and seems hellbent on actively hurting his career. You know you're trash when even Tekashi's latest release sounds better than whatever you just offered in a dog bowl.

Cotton Posted January 13 Posted January 13 (edited) I’m sorry but if he genuinely thought he’d get a smash with the same gimmick and a shitty song he was delusional and clearly thought of himself too highly with no actual fanbase. Glad to see him flopping. Let’s make way for a gay, black popstar with some artistry and good music bc he is not it. Edited January 13 by Cotton 1

Cain Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I like Lil Nas and check out his stuff but the rollout for this was just corny and lame. It’s like… can you come up with something else? Then I checked out the song and it’s not that good so, here we are
Haschwalth Posted January 13 Posted January 13 it's flopping? i- i thought the song was catchy enough
katara Posted January 13 Posted January 13 This won't even debut in the top 200 I don't get it coz he had 3 big hits last era and it's not like other artists haven't rehashed their songs before. I thought his name had way more power. This is basically a Kim Petras debut level tea
