John Slayne Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 could be wrong but in Northern hemisphere (or Europe more specifically) people would traditionally labour in the fields from spring to autumn, so they'd spend those days working hard to prepare for the next winter. it's much colder and darker in late autumn/winter so it makes sense people were more likely to stay at home and chill together rather than go outside. not sure how it was in the past but nowadays the wedding season is from late spring to early autumn, which means there's still celebrations around summertime, just different kinds.

In summertime, people go on vacation, meet their friends at outdoor parties, bbq, pool party...
