That outfit is so cute :jonny: She needs to work on her stage presence a little more but she’s still new so I know she’s going to be LIT on during the tour :jonny:

That's a star. I can see her being booked for Coachella next year, since they're usually booking artists right before they become super big.

Omg I'm so excited for Tyla. I haven't been excited for a popstar like this since Rih.  :clap3:

She's killing it performance wise tbh:WAP:

She doesn't have an LA or Socal date scheduled on her tour but there's a gap in between the end of the European leg and the beginning of the North American dates (kicks off in SF) that fits exactly around the time of Coachella so that sounds like a good guess to me.

She is a real star and the future of pop-r&b music.

I loved this so much.

She is a star.

And Tate should take some note and focus on the choreo on the chorus. Rather than sibg some words here and there, lol, its so annoying

Let's save that for people who aren't afraid to be considered as black due to social stature while still using the looks, ideas and choreo of the culture and have a true appreciation for being associated with the legends who created the genre

Ot, cute performance for her

Whew so many young R&B artists with huge potential. Can't wait to see her tour.

Sis doesn't want to be called/associated with the black community. She wants to be called coloured which she seems to not realize (but she does) is an 'identity' imposed onto black south africans once the derogatory term Bantu did not work anymore. And is common knowledge to be a Jim Crow favorite term, it is part of the reason that South africa is in political dissaray. And literally said so while putting her hair into a traditionally black fashion in the video :deadbanana4:

She took the tik tok video down.

Why would she claim to be Black when she factually is not? It's a good thing that she's being honest about her race and not claiming to be Black for brownie points.

Coloured does not carry the same connotation in South Africa as it does in America. It literally means someone of multicultural ethnic/racial background. They have developed their own communities and culture separate from the Black South African community.

She has Indian, Black and Caucasian ancestry (which is what you'll see is the norm within the Coloured community). You want her to claim to be Black when that would be completely disingenuous and would actually be more controversial and insulting.

As for her saying she's Coloured in America, yeah that's tricky because it's a very offensive term there. It would have been better for her to say she is multicultural or biracial as that would be less offensive. She was just being honest about her identity and is clearly ignorant about how offensive that term is to the Black community in America. She needs to refrain from using it tbh, it's gonna turn a lot of people within the Black community away from her.

That coloured BS is exactly the stuff Nelson Mandela was trying to stop. It's only in south Africa this term is coined, its factually offensive and has caused much division in the motherland from that region. Apartheid is happening for a reason and she knew that as the downfall from it is very clearly seen outside of the "white mecca" cities of SA. Bantu and Coloured are both extremely problematic. Her accepting and using that term is dumb of her and she knows it. No sympathy as she is getting her lashings.

Her saying that was a choice to align herself within a certain sociopolitical situation currently unfolding, she's brainwashed.

Mandela was not trying to destroy race as a concept, he was fighting for liberation of black people. Coloured means completely something different from the American defined due to historical differences of both countries. Just because you don't want to acknowledge that mixed people experience life differently from unambiguously black people doesn't make that fact disappear.  Due to the one drop rule black people and mixed people were never separated racially during slavery but that didn't mean mixed "black" people as monoracial people as you can see with "house slaves" and "blue bloods".

South Africa was different because coloured people were separated from black. We lived in different areas ,went to different schools, had access to different jobs and black people had to carry passes to even travel in the country . Black people in South Africa have different experiences from Coloured people, we face racism from from every other race. Tyla would be dragged in South Africa if she said she was black and she's not going to say she's black just to satisfy you. And Im sure you think Kehlani and Ice Spice are black woman , but you have nerve to gatekeepe black culture from Tyla who is just as black as them. You have Jack Harlows and Jay Parks appropriating black culture but yeah the mixed race girl from South Africa whovsings over Amapiano beats is the culture vulture. Lets not evenvget into African Americans referring to themselves as N-words and allowing non-blacks to use that word

Nope. She a brainwashed, pretty fool. And is getting the lashings she rightfully deserves.

And yall have absolutely ZERO idea what you're talking about. And African-Americans and black people worldwide reclaimed the N word, it's reclamation was a huge deal. You have no idea what the f*ck you're talking about with that at all.

Andddd you only proved my point further in your comments, I ain't movin'. :coffee2:
