Abracadabra Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 (edited) Quote On Saturday night, Eve Gilles was chosen by judges as Miss France 2024. It is the first time someone with a short, pixie haircut has won the beauty contest. “We’re used to seeing beautiful Misses with long hair, but I chose an androgynous look with short hair,” she said upon winning the title. “No one should dictate who you are... every woman is different, we’re all unique.” The choice sparked some, quite frankly, bizarre reactions on social media as (seemingly exclusively) men took to X (formerly Twitter) to bemoan the “woke” decision. “It's not Miss France, it's Miss Woke!!!! We're still lucky she doesn't have a beard,” read one ridiculous French tweet. Another French tweet reads, “Did we just have a woke Miss France or what? 🙄”. Let's unpack this for a moment. People are upset that the judges chose someone with a pixie cut because they feel it was a decision based on inclusivity rather than merit — the implication being that a) short hair is implicitly some kind of diverse, feminist statement and b) it has no place in a beauty pageant, where contestants should all (apparently) have long flowing locks to be considered beautiful. https://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/miss-france-pixie-cut-reaction Edited December 19, 2023 by Miichael
IBeMe Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Says a lot about their own insecurities. She gives off a little bit of femboy vibes and because of that it triggers them because deep down it's what they are attracted to and it reminds them of that and it creates conflict in their minds. Let them seethe. 3 2

jakeisphat Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Don’t most of their women get that same haircut when they turn 40?
Take Me Apart Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 People (not just right win men, everyone on Twitter was fuming) made fun of her because she spent the entire pageant talking about her damn hair Upon being asked the traditional beauty pageant question which was "What would you say to a kid that’s suffering from school bullying" (a huge topic in France rn) she instantly started talking about her hair She was quite literally the dumbest of the top 5 and only won thanks to the judges’ votes who put the two black girls at the bottom when they were at the top of the viewers votes, if you wanna start a controversy let’s start there Miss Guyane>> 2
DonnaSpring Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 People are annoyed by the way because she won and the two black women came last despite the viewers having it the other way round
