LesFleur Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 This is fair right? Customers who pay for every seat are kicked off to accomodate someone who gets extra seats free? 1

Revolution Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 The person of size also bought a ticket. So someone would've been kicked off regardless. 1

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 19, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 19, 2023 huh her story isn't adding up. first she said she was on standby but not and one person of size taking an extra seat is not 3 people getting kicked off a plane. 2 2

I think it sounds like she’s saying that the airline initially claimed she was on standby when she wasn’t, and then later clarified that she was unable to board due to this policy. I imagine the three people getting kicked off was more due to her not wanting to leave one or both of her daughters alone. 6
Communion Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 (edited) Sounds like someone read a recent Daily Mail article and got an idea to go viral after not getting her way on a flight. Bit of a poor move to read the salacious headline and not the body of the story - nor the airline's policy - detailing how most of the customers in question do in fact buy two seats and the accommodations is just that the airline will refund the cost of the 2nd seat. Edit - The video is from an account with a single video with the handle @dontflysouthwest, with this video posted back in June. Edited December 19, 2023 by Communion 5 4
Gelato Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I'm European so this will never affect me, therefore I support Southwest's policy 1

In addition to that, I just did a quick search and found that this policy has apparently existed for more than 30 years? I don’t get why it’s suddenly such a hot topic. 1

nadiamendell Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 1st of all, how would she "come to find out" that this was the reason she was kicked off in the first place? Did some messy gay flight attendant come and tell her or...?? 4
