Unfortunately most voters are property owners and they see homelessness and housing insecurity as a reasonable cost for others to pay in order to ensure their property values can keep going up.

Reminder that NIMBYs are almost 100% to blame for this.

Crazy how rent for a 1 Bedroom on average is like $2,000 a month now :rip:

Even with a Bachelor’s degree, I know people working 2 Fulltime jobs and a Career with benefits just to make ends meet. Gotta make like $150K a year to live somewhat comfortably

Keep in mind this is a big undercount because of how nebulously defined ‘homelessness’ is by the state. Those that are counted are largely people in homeless shelters but the majority of those that don’t have a permanent address, whether they sleep in cars, motels, couch surf, imprisoned, or wander the streets, are not included. The real time number is probably tenfold. What can be said about this country that hasn’t already been said? US is a garbage capitalist shithole and our political establishment cannot crash soon enough.

And yet there's millions of homes sitting vacant in this country. Disgusting.

Covid aid was never meant to be permanent. So idk why bring that up and what exactly did people expect?
I agree that rent is too high and there needs to be more done about rent control, homeownership is a choice. The government does have duty to make sure people can find homes for everyone either through apartments, condos, mobile homes, public housing etc. rent should be based on the average American imo per state. If the average American is making  for example $31 an hour in California that rougly $4960 per month. Rent should not be allowed to exceed $1600 per month.

But tbh the individual multi homeownership are the real problem for real estate. Crisis many private home owners refuse to sell less because they want to make bank on there sold homes or they see houses as they investments. foreign homeownership is also a problem especially here in ca where entire people buy homes but do not actually live in them and there just empty properties, same thing with private companies also buying private residence is a problem too.

No, it does not. That's not the state's job. It does not work for you unless you happen to be filthy rich that is.
