Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) clocks its seventh straight week in the #1 spot, lifting her total weeks the top of the chart this year to 16 across three albums: Midnights, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and her current chart-topper. Taylor now holds the most weeks in a year that one artist has owned the #1 spot since 2017, when Ed Sheeran collected a total of 21 weeks with one album: ÷. Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae hits a new career peak, arriving at #2 with her second album Think Later. The album features her current top 10 hit Greedy, which returns to its peak position of #2 this week, plus new singles Exes (up from #32 to #17 this week) and Run For The Hills (new at #54). Her first album, I Used To Think I Could Fly, peaked at #10 last year. Nicki Minaj charges back onto the chart at #3 with her fifth album, Pink Friday 2, the sequel to her 2010 debut Pink Friday. The first Pink Friday peaked at #19 here, while Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded climbed to #5 in 2012. Her most recent studio album, Queen, got to #4 in 2018. The lead single from Pink Friday 2, Super Freaky Girl, spent one week at #1 here last year. Kylie Minogue scores her second hit album in just three months, with Extension (The Extended Remixes) debuting at #28. It contains extended versions of all the tracks on Tension, which launched at #1 in September, becoming her eighth chart-topper. Rounding out the debuts, The Killers are new at #31 with Rebel Diamonds. It’s the US band’s fourth compilation album: Sawdust hit #6 in 2007 and Direct Hits climbed to #10 in 2013. They have sent three of their studio albums to #1: Hot Fuss in 2004, Wonderful Wonderful in 2017, and Imploding The Mirage in 2020. On the Singles Chart, it’s five weeks on top for Jack Harlow’s Lovin On Me. He is only the second solo male artist to reach #1 this year after Morgan Wallen’s Last Night spent eight weeks at the summit from mid-April to early June. Honourable mention goes to Dave and Central Cee, who took Sprinter to #1 for seven weeks. American country superstar Zach Bryan’s Something In The Orange reaches a new peak, up from #10 to #6 in its 74th week on the chart. Bryan, who played a sold-out concert in Melbourne earlier this month, recently hit #6 with I Remember Everything, his duet with Kacey Musgraves. x NEW ZEALAND x
