What happened to side multiplayer modes like factions (what people actually wanted) and what Uncharted used to have…? Why does it have to be a live service? Either way I wouldn’t have played so fine with me

Multi-player online games are fun for what they are, but they're right to pull the plug since up to this point their work has been well touted for its storytelling. You would lose that completely with an MPOG. Or, if you want to work on something in that platform, let it be something new, rather than basing it in TLOU universe which fans are pretty sacred over.

 

Concentrate on TLOUIII and ensure it's a hit.

Don't get me wrong, but who really wanted this at first place? It would be cute, but rather have them focused on another story driven The Last of Us.

I was never interested in Factions anyway in the original TLOU.

 

But I don't understand how they only realised this just now... after spending so much time, resources and money. They've been talking and teasing it for a few years now and only now they've publicly announced it's scrapped.

I think the trouble started when Sony wanted to turn this into a GaaS game, and ND didn’t want to be beholden to keeping a game relevant with resources years and years down the road, instead focusing on their single player content. So unfortunately they had to scrap it. This is just an assumption, but feels like it’s the reason to me.

Who asked for a live service though? That's their fault for shooting for the stars without a clear plan (and resources, apparently). People only wanted Factions 2, nothing more, nothing less. I saw this coming but I'm still mad at them for this.
