CaptainMusic Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 It’s fine but she (and Rihanna) need to be taxed to hell. Im more concerned with the multi-billionaires anyway. 1
FightDragonsWithMe Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Eat the Rich, except Taylor Swift 1

Especially what she did to Olivia, stealing a piece of a song that she had zero part in writing, and no you can't copyright shouting, was despicable and so low and exposes her for the massive hypocrite she is, after going on a media campaign about how it's so important for artists to own their work. Taylor is cutthroat and ruthless and fiercely competitive about her #1 spot in the music industry, when Olivia broke records with Sour release she flipped like a switch and went on the offensive. Because here comes a girl who is just as talented a writer but much younger and prettier than she is. Taylor is still selling high school fantasies (re-recorded) to women despite pushing 40, while Olivia is actually age appropriate singing about the same things. Olivia is an existential threat to her so she attacked. It was SO low. Disgusting actually. The power difference is insane. She was already close to being a billionaire then in 2021 vs a brand new artist. Incredibly abusive and disgusting all around. Destroyed my opinion of her. She's a psychopath. I said what I said I give zero fucks. Easily the most accurate summary of the Taylor/Olivia "feud" that I've read, excellent post.
Leptine Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 This argument is kind of tricky, however I would say that people in the entertainment business earning those kind of money is definitely different than for example companies that sell basic necessities explotiting people urgent needs and making certain kind of money. What I mean it's that nobody force people to buy or consuming music-movies or attend an artist concert or going to the movie theater, it's an extra that people are willing to do by their choice, whereas in other fields people have no other option but having to spend certain money on a medication or basic necessities. So yeah there's nothing wrong basically, but it still makes you think how there still is too much difference between doing certain kind of job and how certain jobs that required bigger efforts, sacrifice and studies like for example in the medical field where they have even bigger responsabilities with saving people life are often not paid enough, or even manual jobs where people are at risk of harm themselves and stuff like that.
Comedor Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I don’t see the problem, she didn’t scam anybody. I just hope she is giving back to NPO and such. No human being needs that much money.

s-60staliniec Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Is this the right time to pull out my comuinst propaganda
Erreur2 La Nature Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 No. Earning so much money for working 2 hours a day is not ok.
Twixters Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 She made it with art and her own gift. No one was hurt or exploited in the process so I see no issue. I would think musicians getting it solely from music and art is probably one of the most harmless and acceptable ways to become a billionaire. You got it all just on yourself.

But this will never change and has not in thousands of years. Regardless what you do to a few people locally, including saving their lives or risk your own life and you studied hard 10+ years, paid a lot of money... if you can provide something for the broad masses you will be always the much richer person. Easily by the factor 10 or 100.

prézli Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 No. When the inflation is recond-breaking high.

Please, she stole nothing Paramore's sound was already completely generic pop rock like any other in the late 2000s. "Misery Business" does not have the same melody, we've been over this already. There's a reason that song was just a moderate hit whereas "Good 4 U" was a smash.
