suburbannature Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Both among their worst but with iconic singles, IMO
Wildcat Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Open Your Heart? La Isla Bonita was right there. 2 1
GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) Bigger Singles. IWDWS >>>>>>> Live To Tell Papa Don’t Preach > Didn’t We Almost Have It All So Emotional > True Blue Open Your Heart = Where Do Broken Hearts Go La Isla Bonita > Love Will Save The Day It’s a tie. Preferred Album. Whitney. I revisit this album more, not just for the singles but some of the great album tracks on it: “Just The Lonely Talking Again, Love Is a Contact Sport, You’re Still My Man”. Bigger Classics. ”IWDWS” by absolute eons. It’s a bigger classic than most of Madonna’s and that’s saying something something because Madonna has plenty classics too. naval23 Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 I Wanna Dance With Somebody is one of the biggest 80s classics ever. The fact it surpassed a billion on Spotify for an 80s single is insane, it's outstreaming "I Will Always Love You" 2:1 Both were massive eras, but True Blue spent 34 weeks at #1 on Europe's album chart, went 7x platinum in the USA, truly a global era
Da Vinci Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 I actually don't care for either and think they have way better albums that aged better, I just really hate that dated mid-80s sound, specifically those cheap sounding, hollow and echoey beats But if I had to listen to either of them again I'd choose "Whitney"
Nightingale Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 TB has bigger singles overall. IWDWS is one of the biggest classics of all time but besides that it overshadows the rest of the singles. Papa Don’t Preach and La Isla Bonita and even Live to Tell get good streams I personally prefer TB
