Blue. Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) Did not vote for him but considering the former “de facto” president printed/economy minister printed money for almost 2% of the country GDP, froze exchange rate fluctuation, increased debt and froze tariffs, this was expected and it is sadly needed. Digitalism Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 People already knew this was comming and voted for him because of it
lillavend3r Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 All those stup¡d ******* that voted for him will go running back to peronismo in 4 years, like clock work. Any of the international ATRL'ers will let me bunk with them till 2027?
starsailor Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Argentinians had the Brazil's nightmare example right there to learn their lesson and they still voted for the right wing extremist who obeys his dead dog. But, well, tbh, can we really blame them when the other candidate was the minister that was holding the responsibility for the atrocious situation the country's economy is passing right now? I mean, they wanted a change and it's fair. Their mistake was electing Milei. They could had elected other candidate between Milei and Massa, but argentinians are living something that us brazilians lived in 2018, when Bolsonaro was elected because he personified the "anti-PT", and "anti-Lula" spirit. During that time, the brazilian left parties in general were living their biggest moral crisis ever. Now Milei is the personification of the "anti-peronismo" in Argentina, and since argentinians are feeling disgusted and anger, feeling betraied by peronismo, they embrace the other side as a vengance, like they are punishing the peronismo for they betrayal, but without a sense of consequence of their act. Exactly what happened in Brazil. And as result, we lived 4 horrible years with Bolsonaro. I hope the same won't happen in Argentina. I REALLY do. 4
Happylittlepunk Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) The same will happen too US is also. But nobody wants too talk about it. Spending cuts to social programs and government spending is going to come down hard. Edited December 11, 2023 by Happylittlepunk 1

There is also a big part of the country who wants the adjustment (whether they understand what that entails or not) and they see Milei as the only one who would push the pedal with it while someone like Horacio Rodríguez Larreta would have a more gradualist approach which Macri tried to used and it failed.
Listentoyourheart Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) Interesting to see what will happen with Argentina over the next couple of years. The media likes to group him with Trump and other Trump-like politicians but this guy is not your average hate-spouting grifter. He's actually an economist and while I don't really agree with his ideas, God knows Argentina needs a change. It is a miracle that it still exists as a country with how insanely bad their economy is. Either way, I would have voted for him as well if I were Argentine. Voting for the FINANCE MINISTER who is currently in charge of a 135% inflation rate is just plain brain death. AvadaKedavra Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Hope it works for them or if this guy fails hope they dont go back to that disgustin peronism They need real good people

loliza Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 and obviously the ones who are going to pay for it are the poor. The rich always get a way to not suffer even through an economic crise, and the funny thing is the poor have voted him. Good luck 1
Renzo_ Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Socialism has always failed every time it was implemented. I hope Argentina could rise from their ashes and develop their economic potential. 2 1

I don't want to comment on politics in Argentina. I don't know what's happening there. I will always support a welfare state and I am glad that we have one in Germany. I'm curious to see what the reaction of the Argentinian left will be.

I'm curious to see what the reaction of the Argentinian left will be. Argentina’s economic policies over the last decade are far away from European welfare state. The main problem with Argentina is that government is incapable of having a responsible management of public finances. A country that spends more than it earns is unsustainable in the long term. This is why they resort to financing the fiscal deficit with monetary emission, which generates inflation. Edited December 13, 2023 by Renzo_
