WELCOME TO WORLDWIDEANGEL'S BEST OF 2023 . . .

I'm truly excited to start sharing some of the best projects and tracks to have

graced the internet, the record stores, and thus, the the rest of the world.

I'm so excited to begin with . . .

THE TOP TEN EPS OF THE YEAR

These projects are not limited to EPs, mixtapes, and mini-albums.
From an array of genres, this year saw the debut of exciting acts

and much appreciated returns from familiar favorites.

at number ten we have . . . .

I'VE MINE - IVE

spacer.png

IVE really do not get the credit they deserve

for continuously putting out strong, pop music

after releasing the best album (read: album)
out of the 4th gen groups, leave it to them to

return with another exciting release. They

broadened their horizons sonically and it

truly paid off with the success of this EP.

at number nine, we have . . .

GUILTY - TAEMIN

ab67616d0000b2733aa2389906d8900db3b4a8ed

I didn't really get into 2nd gen KPOP but the
promotion gagged me a bit. So naturally I tuned
in and wow . . . This mini album is impeccable!
The title track is above average at best but the

b-sides are incredible.

at number eight, we have . . .

TO .X - TAEYEON

spacer.png

So everyone  has their problematic fave

lets be real, who isn't problematic but I've

grown a soft spot for Taeyeon over the

years and that grew into a lowkey

standom following the release of INVU.

To .X is a wonderful follow-up and its

short tracklist makes for a consistent

and enjoyable project

at number seven we have . . .

LIKE...? - ICE SPICE

spacer.png

what can I say? I thought it was fun, I liked the beat.

The tracks present here really build on the Ice-Spice

sound, a refreshing blend of dance music and hip hop

that feel authentic. In Ha Mood is still her best song

over but she's got worthy competition with Princess

Diana, Actin' A Smoochie, and Gangsta Boo on the

EP.

at number six, we have . . .

UN/LIMITED LOVE - GEORGE RILEY

spacer.png

I had the fortune of being introduced to George Riley

by a friend who sent me her Running In Waves LP.

Pleasantly enthralled, I soon awaited her next release

which happened to be this EP, an exciting and slinky

electronic project filled with striking lyrics and

irresistible rhythms.

at number five, we have  . . . .

IS THIS ON...? - DEELA
spacer.png

Sprinkled on album tracks for Coco & ClairClair

and Odunsi, DEELA continued to soar with the

incredible viral hit, "Take It Up", which proved

to me that British rap might not be horrible

after all. Alongside the Flo Milli-assisted remix

and a verse from Len, the EP is a bundle of

kvnty beats and solid verses.

at number four, we have . . . .

MY WORLD - AESPA
spacer.png

Even when SM tries to play in their face, AESPA

prevails (when they want to). After the monstrosity

that is G...Gi-...Gir- I can't even say it (Illusion is the

best song released by a fourth gen act idc idc), they

came back with amazing tracks like Spicy, Thirsty

and Welcome To My World.

Posted

at number three, we have  . . .

GOING...GOING...GONE! - HEMLOCKE SPRNGS

spacer.png

one of the most exciting debuts in the 2020s,

Hemlocke Springs came in swinging with hits

like Gimmie All Ur Luv and Girlfriend. The EP

contains enjoyable tracks like "heavun" and

"enknee1" which is easily her best song

thus far.

Posted

at number two, we have . . .

GET UP - NEWJEANS

spacer.png

returning after releasing monster hits like

"Ditto" and "OMG" and their best song Zero

NewJeans came back with the amazing Get

Up mini, a 12 minute exploration through

jersey club, UK garage, soothing R&B, and

an experimental, vocal driven track that is

the sweetest conclusion to the project.

and the EP of the year goes to . . .

3 OF US - FLO

spacer.png

After releasing their biggest hit to date and

venturing on their first American tour, FLO

seemingly retreated to the studios, intensively

working on their debut album. In the meantime,

they treated us to a surprise EP with anticipated

tracks and solid singles like the title track. This EP

sees them slowly moving out of the Y2K R&B

box in favor of making some of the best

contemporary R&B tracks in recent memory.

well yes!! I was struggling to find memorable EPs out this year but Hemlocke and Ice Spice really came through!

Unfortunately I don't get much mileage out of the Newjeans EP, I prefer Pinkpantheress' output this year over it no shadeee. :sorry:

Love the banner btw
