Its interesting when actors with no theatre training get to broadway. Theres thousands of actors in new york trying to get on broadway and he got it? Interesting

How is it interesting? They don't sell tickets, famous actors do...especially when a show has been running for a long time and it isn't a super popular show. Maybe those other actors could get in the ensemble now and make their big breaks that way.

True, does make sense but it just shows in my eyes that having years of theatre training and experience and thousands of loans wont equal getting/making it on broadway like theyd hope.

I hope hes good in it but its just very eye opening to me as i read his history and he doesnt have much theatre experience.

Ensemble thing does make sense tho. (They get paid penny's tho)

Yup. It's virtually impossible. Their best bet is to get cast in a new show and hope that it becomes a smash, a la Idina Menzel in Rent, etc... I worked with a lot of theater students and I always told them to have a backup/double-major.

I do know some theatre companies do general auditions and place actors where they are needed but i bet it is heartbreaking to study so much and not make it. I would think doing a double major would be hard as well
