Vermillion Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Quote AI face detection now counts among the tools that could be used to help adult sites effectively estimate UK user ages and block minors from accessing *****graphy, the UK’s Office of Communications said in a press release on Tuesday. The only foreseeable problem, Ofcom noted: There’s little evidence that the AI method of age estimation will be fair, reliable, or effective. The UK’s legal age to watch porn is 18. To enforce that restriction, under the Online Safety Act, Ofcom will soon require all apps and sites displaying adult content to introduce so-called “age assurance” systems that verify and/or estimate user ages. Seemingly, this option would require users to take a selfie to access adult content. If the face scan suggests the user is under 25, “that user would undergo a second age-check via an alternative method” approved by Ofcom.
May Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 and will these scans be stored somewhere? because if so i can absolutely see these XXX sites being hacked in the future and these scans being traced back to user's social media profiles via AI facial recognition softwares and then their history on that site being used as a blackmail tool .. 4

pisuke Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I understand the problem of minors having access to porn (and violent porn) so easily, but I think they need to scan first the actual people in the porn videos if they are really not minors cause this is a big issue and way darker. 7
glitch Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 What a child has access to on the internet is the responsibility of their parents. At the end of the day, the parents would be the ones to get in trouble so the burden of responsibility should be on them. 1

RunUpDoneUp Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 Anything to not actively parent one's child. Anything to not address the overworked adult lifestyle where they barely get by. Anything to escape the need for robust sex education instead of cracking down on a anti-genocide rally. This is lazy tech "problem solving" if I ever saw it.
