Iñakifan Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Not everything an artist does has to be political in order to be good or important. Bringing joy and entertainment into people's lives matters just as much. 1

Unless they are harming society Scrutinizing Beyoncé for this is wrong. Apolotical? Did y'all forget her #BLM stance and the black liberation in her albums or something? She knows how to pick her battles, specifically those that can earn her money. 2 2

Has it ever occurred to you that she choose to stand with Black Lives Matter because she's a black person in America and it affects her? And do you know that she hasn't earned much from The Gift and Black Is King and yet she choose to do those projects to celebrate her African roots, even though it was costing her? Or are you claiming that those projects are successful? I do agree that she knows how to pick her battles, because she picks those that affect her or her family. 4 2

You're saying that a black woman, who was standing up for other black people, was doing it for money, not because she herself is black, even with the HUGE amount of backlash she got? What is this dumb ****? 3 6
Phaunzie Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Wait she released song named The Silence. Did she release it, this week?

elincomprendid Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 tbh I think this is just kinda karma for beyhive screaming so much about how she is not so big cause all she does have a political connotation and blah blah when in reality is not as much Still completely stupid to call her out specially coming from a reliable source like Variety but well 1

What is this dumb ****? that font sounds dumb af lol. Never mind that Lemonade (and really her whole 2016-2019 period) is the lowest-selling/least streamed work of her career, she was aligning with what her could "earn her money". A right ******* scream.
vale9001 Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) This article Is pathetic. Cause they points She makes doesn't have the effect she thinks they could have. She says beyonce is apolitical cause her performance on super Bowl with black panthers clothes is not but that feel very political and what She writes to explain doesn't make you change idea. She says She is apolitical cause her movie talks about Aids but at the Moment She talks about her uncle She doesn't specifically say he died for Aids. So for this the movie became apolitical (?????). Maybe She didn't Say for privacy and anyways how this make the moment less important. This woman Is the typical buzzfeed- vulture cretin can't understand how important Is for the world to have icons can unite instead of trying to be divisive and how It's important to have someone making political references that are not extreme but can make light to things in a way everyone can understand and for hundreds of millions of people. They can't make the difference between a popstar and an activist (!) They expect Beyoncé to talk and act like an activist for gay rights, women rights, black rights and even Tibet rights and honk hong rights. Knowing everything right about everything. When you have so many people looking at you being sure to not say wrong and uncorrect things Is more important to say the right thing. I believe you should really talk about these things when you are really informed and expert about It. Of course for the same people if you are political but you fight for things they don't like, like in the case of the Harry Potter writer, you should just shut up and write. You have to be an activist saying only what they think, basically your brand to be good you have to be a new yorker- vulture- the Atlantic activist journalist The part about capitalism can have more fair points. wantedyoutogrow Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) the reviewer is obviously mad that the movie is being shown in israel (which is fair, i guess) but bringing up her uncle’s death is just distasteful edit: actually, I went to reviewers RT page and she is just a hater, like she doesn’t like ANYTHING Edited December 5, 2023 by wantedyoutogrow 1 2
Kristie Kuwa Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 This is a perfect example of someone reviewing something with the clear intention of finding something to dislike. She made up her mind beforehand that she has a bone to pick with Bey so she made it her mission to find things she hates. Ridiculous 1
Badgalbriel Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 What a useless piece of article. Beyoncé does not need to be political.
Pheromosa Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 What does Palestine have to do with the film? ******* are just mad 2
blaggot Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 the whole article is dripping in clear disdain for bey this article was not about the damn film at all, just this writer’s chance to lay into bey while it’s semi-popular to do so
eleganceislearned Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 This reminds me of her Tiffany diamond controversy. I think people are going to hold Beyonce to a higher standard forever because of the political themes she's explored before in her videos and performances, whereas people like Nicki get away with everything because no one expects anything, lol.

Right, but she then went on to promotional campaigns for blood diamonds and perform for human-rights violations oil barons. Yes, she has done some good deeds, that's great. But you know it is ok to criticise your idols when they are in the wrong no? It is even more than ok to stop supporting them when they align themselves with horrible causes or let genocidal maniacs use their art to further their genocidal cause, right? Jsut because she did some good deeds doesnt mean she gets a pass at everything else, ffs 1

Do you not want your fave to be held to high standards? Of course wealthy and visible public figures will be held to high standards of conduct. Duh!
