Riverbank
Quote A man known to French authorities for radical Islamism and mental health troubles stabbed a tourist to death and wounded two other people in central Paris late Saturday night before being arrested, with prosecutors opening an investigation into a "terrorist plot". The attacker, known to authorities and in treatment for mental illness, shouted "Allahu Akbar" – Arabic for "God is greatest" – at the moment of the attack, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said at the scene by Bir Hakeim bridge over the River Seine. Germany on Sunday condemned the stabbing that killed the 23-year-old tourist. "The Islamist knife attack on a young man near the Eiffel Tower in Paris is an abominable crime. Our thoughts go to the family and friends of the victim, and to the others wounded in this terrible act," Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told the Funke media group in an interview. Kasix
Clickbait. You made it sound like the Eiffel tower itself was the target, but it’s just some random German person that got stabbed. 2 1 7
Riverbank
Apparently, the perpetrator was known for radical Islamism to the French authorities. He was released from prison after 4 years for a failed terrorist attack. 2 1
Anthinos
Why is a criminal like him allowed to walk around freely? He had already planned a terrorist attack in the past. People like that have to go. Europe is too soft when it comes to crime. 2
Communion
Very interesting that the OP has decided - for some reason - to exclude from the article the fact that the 26-year-old attacker was a man born and raised in France. Quote Prosecutors specialising in terrorist incidents told AFP they had opened a probe into the attacker, who was identified as a French national born in 1997 to Iranian parents. Odd how far-right attempts at forced assimilation (without addressing the material basis for integration) - that include forced re-education camps for those deemed potential threats - don't seem to be working within France! And that even those born and raised in the hub of Western liberal values can be radicalized against their appeal! Maybe another policy should be given a try to avoid this kind of needless violence. I'm sure this thread will be full of productive views and not just incoherent screeching about immigration policy towards someone who is not an immigrant! People who commit these acts have either been detained in the past or were under some sort of watch list. There's always a precedent, and yet the police fails to prevent these attacks.

He was on a watch list he apparently had plans that foiled before. With all that information why wasn’t this person thrown in a jail cell where he belongs. Same thing with all these mass shooters in the US that were on FBI watch before their attacks
