Amerie had a song she wrote taken from her and was supposed to be given to Jennifer Lopez, she leaked her version of the song in order to prevent it being taken from her. It's a double edged sword for newer artists, they obviously want to present their best music to the labels in order to get it released, but sometimes those labels want to take those songs for their bigger artists. At least Rihanna kept SZA on the song as a feature and didn't use her vocals with no credit

If you do look deeper into the story from previous interviews it does appear that pharrel(?) lowkey baited sza into thinking that he was interested in hearing her album, and not that his intention was to take a song for Anti. I feel bad for SZA cause it appears she really loved the song but it going into Rihanna’s album paved the way for the success of CTRL. It was dumb of her to play it for him even if she thought his intentions were different
