At least in my opinion it is sort of the prime area for it culturally in America. Like I am sure some aspect of it is the large population in a small area, but I don't think that is really all it is. Like first there are so many rich/bored people who just want to be a part of something and feel like they have purpose of some sort. I think second and more importantly though LA is a place soooo many young people go to do things like find themselves, pursue their dreams, they're naive, often insecure, and so much more. It makes them prime for cults to make them feel supported and comfortable and like they really "found" their place in the world. I think third there are a lot of really spiritual/emotional people in that culture too and they can sometimes mix up that type of stuff with cult tricks and all that. No offense but Shawn absolutely seems like that type too. He is always apparently anxious and having some sort of emotional/spiritual crisis or so it seems. He also seems so insecure and lost too despite his fame/money/career. Like with his money and all of that going on imo he is perfect for someone to latch onto and make him feel like with them they can help him with all those problems and wants and take advantage of him 2
