I'll be the first to condemn Israel and Zionism but y'all gotta choose your battles and not just go after anyone that y'all don't like.

If she's friends with someone who is Israeli/Jew, why would she not attend his wedding? This mentality is wrong. Being a Jewish person does not give anyone the right to attack or belittle them because Zionists or the Israeli Government is committing genocide.

Also, as much as I blame Israel for what is happening, remember that innocent Israeli people were/are also killed. And someone putting up a flag in support of those people shouldn't be shamed or attacked. Also, remember how the media/propaganda works. A lot of people are very ignorant or unaware of what's really happening and the true culprit/motives, especially when it's your own country that's committing war crimes.

I'm not defending ignorance, but for the love of God, stop attacking every single person. It's not humane when it's done to Israeli people, it's not humane when it's done to Russian people. And yes, of course it's not humane what's happening to Palestinians. That's a fact and where the main focus should be. Not attacking anyone who's Jewish.

She looks worn out.

It’s so visible how Zionists are clearly losing the narrative globally and gasping at straws to try and retain support all over social media.

Y’all are being exposed live in front of the whole world and cannot stand to see it.

more like *Palestinians telling Zionists that they cannot excuse their expulsion and mass murder under the guise of semitism, and that the criticism of any government, system, or country is completely valid

There is plenty to criticize Israel for, but holding Israel to a different standard than other countries is, in fact, anti-Semitism.

Considering that a) all countries would (and historically have) respond militarily to a terrorist attack and b) there are multiple examples of expulsion happening RIGHT NOW in other countries shows that there’s something more to just “legitimate criticisms” of Israel.

Even more funny is the desperate attempt to argue all across the forum that “anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism, and it’s actually anti-Semitic of you to conflate Judaism with Zionism” and then IMMEDIATELY labeling and villainizing a Jewish wedding as an evil Zionist event because there are photos of people dancing in the vicinity of an Israeli flag. It’s just further proof of the anti-semitic dog whistling :coffee2:

I sense another break from social media for Ms. Gomez is imminent.

Personally I don't think she's an actual Zionist - she's probably too ignorant to even consider informing herself on the matter, just like 99% of celebrities. And in the same way, she simply doesn't care, about Palestine nor Israel, especially not enough to drop people for it. And again, the reason why she gets dragged more than other celebrities is simply because she's always proclaimed herself an activist, and if you do that people expect you to do what an activist is expected to do.

Now, going forward, who the hell would wave a flag at a wedding? I don't know if it's just me but that's extremely weird, like I can't find a single reason why you would do that. Now in this specific case, why would you wave the flag of a "country" who is - right now - committing a whole genocide? If I was a jew who's not agreeing with the government eccetera I certainly would NOT wave that flag at my wedding while they're trying to wipe out a whole population.

But would the people of a country fight back when another group of people tries and succeeds in taking over their land?

Thank you for this :clap3:

Before they close this thread for being too contentious, if you're somebody reading this please remember that being anti-Zionist and opposing the apartheid of Israel does not make you in any way, shape, or form anti-Semitic.

They will continue to use this as a gaslighting tactic to try and scare you away from speaking on the topic. Do not let them distort the truth no matter what.

Anyway I'm off to have dinner then sleep, and I'll sleep very well knowing I'm a Palestinian whose dad actually is from Palestine and not a white European settler who stole the land and homes of its native Arab population which was legally living there.

Nights

Can sleep knowing that Jews are indigenous to that land as well. You can claim to be "native" as well – and that's a fair debate, of when one becomes native to a land. Is it 1000 years? 2000? 500? If so, the question of who is native to a land that has been constantly changed in terms of population and occupation becomes more questionable. But I won't deny that Jews and Palestinians of today both have ties to that land, hence why it has been ad contentious as it has been for centuries.

But again, to claim Israel is just white European settlers is inaccurate and incorrect, and an attempt to import Western racial lens on a conflict that is about ethnicities not fitting in a black and white context. Many Palestinians would be considered "white" in the US, just as many Israelis would not be considered "white."

Anyway, here's to peace and dignity for both people.

Okay, but personally I don't think it's very considerate, even of their guests. Like if Gigi was actually there do you not think she was uncomfortable with their celebration of a flag who's killing her population?

There was no need to fight in the first place when the original UN charter was put to the table and gave both sides a country. Trying to realize a Nationalist pan-Arab manifest destiny (several times), losing, and then demanding what you were initially offered is a strategy guaranteed to fail. Palestinians have the right to a country of their own, but not built off the back of Hamas terrorism.

You're gonna see tons of flags in immigrants' weddings. It's called tradition.

A month ago y'all thought zionism was a cocktail and now you spam it every chance you get. Use your brains for once.

Gigi has literally called for entire state of Israel to cease to exist, and has posted the Palestinian flag after Hamas went in and raped/butchered 1,200 civilians and kidnapps 200+ including infants. So I'm sure that could be said both ways. But regardless, the state of Israel means more to the Jewish people than the current government. It is a state and idea that is rooted in thousands of years of religious text, tradition, and holidays and is integrated in most religious ceremonies.

Ah yes, the age old trope of Jews Zionists running the world. Nothing to see here!

Zionist =/= Jew. You trying to conflate them is your own issue, not mine. The President of SAG is a literal Zionist. The people who run CAA, the biggest talent agency in Hollywood, is run by Zionists. This is not some weird conspiracy theory, it is the truth, and it is why so many people are being fired for speaking out against a genocide.

You all trying to call anyone critical of Zionism anti-semites is why there has been so much pushback. Zionism is evil. Judaism is not.

And the means of creating such a state was done by way of land theft, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and war crimes. Gigi is correct, Israel should cease to exist.

OT: Can we really expect anything more from Selena at this point? She’s shown time and time again she is, at best, a very ignorant person.

No, you are pushing a view that Jews Zionists secretly run and control entire industries. You can google Jews controlling the media – it's literally thousand+ year old antisemitic trope. If Jews/Zionists really ran the entire media/Hollywood as you suggest, many actors who have been legit antisemitic (e.g. Mel Gibson) would not be hired again. Many Jews work in the entertainment industry which allows for things like people running the CAA not to want to represent those who have been anti-israel (whether that's right or wrong). But this global conspiracy is antisemitic. implore you to google

In all fairness, weddings are usually planned months in advance, what are really the odds that she would know there would be an Israeli flag when she received the invitation?

The State was created following a partition by the UN. And if "land theft" is the basis for an illegitimate state – would that not apply to literally every state in the world? Or somehow only for the one Jewish state?
