I have never understood the train of thought that just because we're small in comparison to the rest of the universe it means we're nothing. It's just not true!

I'm a living being, I think, I feel, I can interact with my surroundings. I have an impact on the universe, no matter how small.

And it's possible (not likely but possible) that we're the only life in the universe. We're certainly the only life in this corner of it. Wouldn't that mean that we are EVERYTHING? There are whole galaxies out there just waiting for US

You sound like you believe you could fight a supermassive black hole

I think that makes us very special. To be conscious of the universe's greatness is part of what makes us unique.

It's quite embarrassing how people don't know about this... then again, this must be going viral on X and Tiktok, where its user's IQs/attention span are pretty low.

And bacteria is smaller than us, and if we dig deeper, we go into atoms

I wonder if the universe is simply as big as a bacteria for another creature living outside that is bigger than us but could never reach us and see us

Like there's no way we are the only one living in this universe.

Yeah, even thought it's obviously never been proven it seems so close minded to think that we could be the only ones considering the sheer scale and enormity of the universe. If there are other lifeforms out there, it makes me so curious to know what their life is like and what their version of reality is like and if they are too are wondering if they are the only ones in the universe.

That ending tho. :ryan3:

It’s the other way around actually. Asserting the existence of extraterrestrial life solely due to the immense scale of the universe reflects a lack of understanding and scientific literacy. The existence of any life forms cannot be inferred or logically deduced unlike the existence of astronomical objects like galaxies, black holes, planets and stars. In science, it requires math to come up with educated guesses and hypotheses. Everything scientific can be predicted & expressed using mathematical equations. Even discarded theories like the geocentric model, steady state & unproven theories like the eternal universe and multiverse are supported by mathematical equations. There’s no mathematical equation that can predict the existence of aliens.

I wasn't talking about whether or not it is scientifically or mathematically possible to prove extraterrestrial lifeforms exist, I was saying that the universe is so vast and there is still so much that is unknown about it that it's quite ignorant to say that there is absolutely no way other lifeforms in the universe exist, because that's the thing... we don't know.
